Eric Lampton/Eric Clapton and VALIS?πŸŽ€πŸ¦‰πŸ“•πŸŽ¬

I recently wrote a post about reading the first novel in the 'VALIS' trilogy and not liking the book, but there still were parts of the novel that fascinated me in hindsight.
For instance, Phil's fascination with seeing the movie 'The Man Who Fell to Earth' starring David Bowie as the alien who fell to earth, who Dick called Eric Lampton in his novel.
Eric Clapton of course was a real rock star at the time who Phil was trying to muddy the waters with Bowie in his novel for some reason.

What struck me with the Eric Lampton/Eric Clapton connection to 'VALIS' was, and SPOILER ALERT if you haven't read 'VALIS' and intend to at some point ... and God help you with that ... was Eric Lampton and his fictional wife Linda have a child conceived by VALIS called Sofia, who is meant to be the divine child (Jesus reincarnated into a baby girl's body) but Sofia tragically dies in an accident around the Lampton's home sending Philip K. Dick (who is actually a character in this novel) into another schizophrenic breakdown which brings back Horselover Fat into the story, as he (Fat is also Dick) travels the world looking to find the child reborn somewhere else on the planet.
Chapter 14 of 'VALIS'
Dick died in March 1982, so he never lived to hear about the real-life tragedy of Eric Clapton's son's accidental death on 20 March 1991.
Clapton's four-year-old son, Conor, died after falling from the 53rd-floor window of his mother's friend's New York City apartment at 117 East 57th Street.
Conor's funeral took place on 28 March at St Mary Magdalene's Church in Clapton's home village in Ripley, Surrey, with Conor buried in the church graveyard.in 1991.
The Month of March was a big deal with Dick while he was alive, not to mention his passing on March 2nd, 1982,
Eric Clapton's birthday is in March, so maybe Phil had more in common with Clapton than Bowie in hindsight?
And as much as I didn't like the novel 'VALIS' I would have liked to have known what the novel 'The Owl in Daylighthe was working on when he died was going to be about:-)
"The Owl in Daylight is a novel Philip K. Dick was writing at the time of his death in 1982. He had already been paid an advance for the book by the publisher and was working against a deadline."
What is it with owls and death ... and UFOs?-)

The Divine Invasion? πŸ‘Ό⛪πŸ›ΈπŸ“–

I guess I picked the right day (Sunday) to start reading PKD's 'The Divine Invasion';-)
I prepared by listening to a few podcasts from people who had read the novel to see what they thought of it before I started reading it.
I didn't like 'VALIS', so this one I'll probably hate, too by the sounds of it:-(
I think I'll end up in the same camp as Evan Lampe after I get to the end of the second novel of the VALIS Trilogy somehow.
Ironically, there aren't a lot of podcast episodes to be found about 'The Divine Invasion', most podcasts that come up in an Apple Podcast search are Christian podcasts like this one below, which I had a listen to, and ironically the pastor/priest giving the sermon mentions the latest 'Star Wars' movie that was coming out at the time of that podcast recording:-)
That's Dick's Exegesis under his semi-autobiographical novel VALIS

WHO Are You Without Your Own Podcast Mike?πŸŽ€πŸ¦‰πŸ›Έ

I've been listening to a lot of
podcast episodes featuring 'The Owl Guy' Mike Clelland recently, because of a few personal synchronicities I've had lately ... none involving owls or UFOs directly, though.
Mike Clelland:
The
Owls Are Not What They Seem
Some of his latest podcast
appearances (if that's the right word) have been quite interesting to listen to, I think, as I have mentioned in some of my recent posts like this one -

OWLS, SYNCHRONICITIES AND UFOS
WITH MIKE CLELLAND
I have mainly stayed in touch with
Mike's blog posts and podcasts because I liked the old podcast shows where he would hook interesting guests to interview on his own podcast shows, not because I believe in UFO abductions like he does.
The same goes for Gordon White over at Gordon's 'Rune Soup' blog.
I liked the guests Gordo would interview on his podcast show, not because of his PC rants and to me Harry Potter role playing "Adult Magic';-)
And oddly, this morning as I'm lying in bed listening to a podcast, not involving Mike, a thought came into my head lamenting Mike not interviewing people for his podcast anymore like in the good old days, and then I see a new post on his blog about re-booting his old podcast?!
The Hidden Experience

Podcast is Reborn
And he has posted it on Star Wars Day (May the 4th) which has been and gone already on my side of the world, but not his:-)

And oddly enough speaking of
Gordo and Mike, I saw an owl story on the Australian national news website about a rare Tasmanian owl:-)
Gordon White lives in Tasmania, for those readers WHO don't get the owl connection there;-)

It's a weird world we live in, and by the way where is Gordo these days?-)
The hills are alive?!
Climb Every Mountain?
And did Gordo mention libraries in that You Tube above?-)
Tasmania even gets a mention in chapter 10 of 'VALIS':-)
Oddly enough, having finished reading my copy of
'VALIS' yesterday, I'm starting my library book today containing the last two 'VALIS' trilogy stories, and I noticed that the Gordon White Library in Mount Pleasant is on Phillip Street:-)

UFOs, Psychic Spies, Consciousness, Lance Mungia and the World (is a Giant Podcast Circle-Jerk) According to Josh Zepps?
