Peace Out: Woodstock 50 Goes Down Like a Led Zeppelin in the Year of the Pig?

They kicked off in 1968, but their first album came out in '69
Not only did Woodstock 50 with Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant in the line-up to play on the first day of the festival get officially canned, but Jimmy Page's old house once owned also by the "great beastAleister Crowley was burnt down the same year as a famous Paris church was.
A Hell of a Coincidence, Too?
Led Zeppelin was asked to perform at Woodstock back in 1969.
"Their manager Peter Grant stated: "We were asked to do Woodstock and Atlantic were very keen, and so was our U.S. promoter, Frank Barsalona.
I said no because at Woodstock we'd have just been another band on the bill."
However, the group did play the first Atlanta International Pop Festival on July 5, as one of 22 bands at the two-day event.
Woodstock weekend, Zeppelin performed 140 miles south of the festival at the Asbury Park Convention Hall in New Jersey.
Their only time out taken was to attend Elvis Presley's show at the International Hotel in Las Vegas, on August 12."
PG was born and died in
 the Year of the Pig?
"On the afternoon of 21 November 1995, while driving to his home at Eastbourne, Grant suffered a fatal heart attack, his son Warren by his side.
He was 60 years old.
Grant was buried on 4 December 1995 at Hellingly Cemetery, with the funeral service held at St Peter and St Paul's Church, Hellingly, East Sussex.
His eulogy was read by longtime friend Alan Callan.
Coincidentally, it was the 15th anniversary of Led Zeppelin's official breakup.
His final public appearance had been at the final night of the Page and Plant tour at the Wembley Arena in July 1995."
Went defunct in 1983,
the
Year of the Pig?
"Swan Song Records was a record label launched by the English rock band Led Zeppelin on 10 May 1974.
It was overseen by Led Zeppelin's manager Peter Grant and was a vehicle for the band to promote its own products as well as sign artists who found it difficult to win contracts with other major labels.
Swan Song ceased active operations in 1983 and now exists only to reissue previously released material."
Released in 1971,
the
Year of the Pig
I guess the Year of the Pig hasn't been all bad for Led Zep, as they did have that little song come out in 1971.
"Stairway to Heaven" is a song by the English rock band
Led Zeppelin, released in late 1971.
It was composed by guitarist Jimmy Page and vocalist Robert Plant for the band's untitled fourth studio album (often called Led Zeppelin IV).
It is often referred to as one of the greatest rock songs of all time.
Still, I'll bet the old members of Led Zeppelin will be glad to see the next Chinese New Year arrive to get the pig off their backs.
Peace ... over and ... out?
