Astrud Gilberto became an overnight superstar
 in 1964, after singing The Girl from Ipanema

I never really knew where Ipanema was until I saw the sad news that Brazilian singer Astrud Gilberto, best known for her English-language cameo on The Girl from Ipanema, has died at age 83.

I knew where Rio was though, not that I have been there.

In Australia when we talk about wearing thongs on the beach, we are usually talking footwear, not a string bikini bottom that leaves not much to the imagination:-)
