It makes me laugh watching such TV shows sponsored by companies like Ancestry.com, where they tell celebrities their family roots, like they have all the answers for them.

Are Home DNA Kits Really Accurate?🧬
That's part of my latest DNA update from Ancestry.com where they are now telling me that I'm 1% Nepalese, while my other relatives on that side of the family are either the same percentage, or similar, but with either Northern or Southern Indian, which at some stages in the past Ancestry.com have told me that I was 1% of both, but now they seem to have settled on the 1% Nepalese ... finally?
At one stage Ancestry.com told me I had 3% Welsh and I was telling family members we had some Welsh blood in the family line, but it was soon gone, too, with future updates.
I guess we are all curious to what our backstory is, even if sites like Ancestry.com can only sell you another family fable of who you think you are:-)
I guess we really never know who we really are, no matter what anyone tells us?
Because I did an Ancestry.com test years ago and they have never stopped telling me different stories about my DNA results, to the point that I give up telling family members about my Ancestry.com test results.
Ancestry-JUNK-DNA?Part of my latest Ancestry.com update |
At first Ancestry.com told me that I had 19% Irish DNA, and I went around telling my family members that my genes were a fifth Irish and how that may explain why I liked drinking Guiness stout?
Then in a later update they told me that only 3% of my genes were Irish, and now it is 0% of my genes are Irish:-(

Still, I find it interesting watching these shows about people like Miranda trying to find out about her past.
SPOILER ALERT, Miranda finds out that she and her father Barry are not really from the Otto line at all, as her grandmother on her father's side of the family was bonking the landlord and Barry is his kid.
And ironically, the next day at work, after having watched Miranda find out she and her father Barry were not OTTOs, someone had donated an OTTO notebook to the Op Shop, and with me needing a new notebook I bought it:-)

Someone had also donated a 2001 copy of a Melissa Etheridge bio, so I bought that, as well.
And then I watched the USA version of the show about Melissa Etheridge on SBSOnDemand, having seen her play live at Bluesfest in 2016 and 2018 -

I wonder who Tom Cruise thinks he really is?-)
I guess we are like a good story, no matter how true it really is?
