Survival??? This Is The Official Song For The 2012 London Olympic Games?

The latest Muse song, Survival, taken from their latest album
The 2nd Law is the official song for the
2012 London Olympic Games
Survival???
WTF?
Lyrics
Race, life's a race
And I'm gonna win
Yes, I'm gonna win
I'll light the fuse
And I'll never lose
And I choose to survive

Whatever it takes
You won't pull ahead
I'll keep up the pace
And I'll give you my strength
To the whole human race

Yes, I am prepared
To stay alive
I won't forgive
Vengeance is mine

And I won't give in
Because I choose to thrive

Yeah I'm gonna win

Race, it's a race
But I'm gonna win
Yes, I'm gonna win
I will light the fuse
I'll never lose
I choose to survive

Whatever it takes
You won't pull ahead
Because I'll keep up the pace
And I'll give you my strength
To the whole human race

Yeah I'm gonna win
Yes I'm gonna win
Sounds like the soundtrack to V for Vendetta more than the official song for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Something smells rotten to me, and it's not in Denmark, either;-)

  1. How could they use a song like this? I agree. Something's rotten here.

  2. It's not a song I'd have chosen either but: what is this 'rotten' that you (and Trish) mention?

  3. “Something is rotten in the state of Denmark” is used to describe corruption or a situation in which something is wrong.
    That's the feeling I'm getting.

Not a song of choice with lyrics like
    " I won't forgive
    Vengeance is mine "
    " I will light the fuse "

When there is rumours of terrorism surrounding the event.
Who OK's this type of song for an event like this?

    1. Sure, but after Marcellus says this Horatio goes on to say, "Heaven will direct it."

I just want to send out good vibes about the Olympics. Yes, there could be problems (as there could be anywhere in the world) - but let's think positive: Heaven may well direct it!

      Fingers crossed, of course!!

    3. There is a lot of stuff like this that does seem to raise some concern;

  4. I quite like Muse. It's typical them. I didn't know they had a new album...

  5. Matthew Bellamy (front man of muse) - "It's about total conviction and pure determination to win."

Ryan Hargreaves (random member of general public)- "For the standard of muse I'm used to, this song is like looking down into a toilet bowl"

    Everyone's a critic!
