"Pie Face is an Australian food chain which predominantly sells pies, sausage rolls and coffee. It was founded in 2003 in Sydney, Australia, by Wayne Homschek. Following a period of rapid growth in Australia and overseas, the company entered administration in 2014 and the majority of the chain's stores closed. In April 2017, it was acquired by United Petroleum."
And while the beef empanada was OK, the steak and mushroom pie was probably the worst pie I have ever eaten.

And that face on the pie is how I felt afterwards.
While I was waiting at the counter for my pies to heat up, I saw packets of 'Italian Brainrot' trading cards for sale and realizing that it was also 'Trading Cards for Grown-ups Day' I bought a packet, having not a clue what these things were.
I just wondered if I'd be lucky enough to get the shark pictured on the front of the packet, but no such luck.
I got a flying banana, a capuccino ballerina, a Taco Bell type dog, a turtle and a blue thing. These things were the weirdest cards I have ever bought, so I looked up to see what computer game characters these were on Wikipedia but found out that they are AI generated memes.
Wikipedia says "Italian brainrot is a series of internet memes that emerged in early 2025 characterized by surrealist and absurd images of AI-generated creatures who are given pseudo-Italian names. The phenomenon quickly spread across social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, going viral owing to its combination of sloppy aesthetics, synthesized "Italian" voiceovers, grotesque or humorous visuals, abstractism, and nonsensical narrative."
According to my 2023 Guiness Book of Records, some people will collect anything.Wikipedia says "Italian brainrot is a series of internet memes that emerged in early 2025 characterized by surrealist and absurd images of AI-generated creatures who are given pseudo-Italian names. I might buy a packet on my next two visits to 'Pie Face' to taste what the other two empanadas are like, but I wouldn't ever buy a steak and mushroom pie again.
Unfortunately, 'Pie Face' is just truck stop food these days since United Petroleum bought them out, it seems to my taste buds:-(Collectomania -Claudia Chan Shawwith Sophie Lieberman |
