Soap, 237 and the Peppermint Twist

Soap"With enough soap, we could blow up just about anything."
'Tyler was full of useful information.'
-Tyler and the Narrator

IKEA in Fight Club

I used to work for a big Swedish Furniture store in Brisbane for 24 years until they made me redundant
(and a big thank you to management for flushing me out of that s#ithole, too, or I'd still swimming around in it wishing I could find a job that I actually liked turning up to).
I now work for a health food and products distributor
who actually move a lot of soap, funnily enough,
considering the movie  Fight Club
and the scene in this You Tube Clip .
Now, I'm a big fan of Kubrick's movies and also the movie
Room 237 made by a fellow syncer/sinker  Rodney Ascher.
Room 237 is the room in the movie The Shining where Jack thinks he sees a hot woman in a bathtub who gets out of the tub and starts kissing him only to be seen in the mirror as an old rotting woman's corpse.
I was picking an order for bottles of Dr.Bronner's soap
and noticed the bottle I had in my hand contained 237ml,
(which is what we use in Oz  / Australia)
(8 fl oz) of liquid soap.
237ml (8 fl oz)
I decided to buy this bottle, not because I liked peppermint, only because the peppermint bottle was dark blue and would show up best in a photo.
I got this reply from Alan Green when I posted this photo in
The Kitchen Sync Facebook group with a comment about the 237ml measurement -
"my wife and I use DrBronner's too (also Peppermint)
I swear I've considered doing some sync article on the crazy label."
I also decided to buy a cherry scented bar soap for my bathroom sink.
I noticed on one side of the bar was the words ALL ONE.
I remember thinking what a contrast that was to the FIGHT CLUB soap.
"When the narrator first meets Tyler, Tyler declares that he is a soap salesman, although Tyler has various other occupations including a night-time movie projectionist and a waiter.
Tyler, however, most identifies himself with the job of selling soap, thus lending weight to the symbolic importance played by soap in the movie.
Tyler calls soap "the foundation of civilization" and tells the narrator that "the first soap was made from the ashes of heroes".
He also uses lye, a chemical ingredient of soap, to introduce the narrator to the pain of "premature enlightenment."
In this role, soap is a symbol of purification and cleanliness, of a culture lacking the hypocrisy and fraudulence of contemporary culture.
However, in that Tyler makes soap by stealing fat from the liposuction clinic dumpsters and then sells these soaps "to department stores for $20 a bar", soap also represents a too highly refined culture, a culture where all traces of natural humanity are suppressed, effaced, washed off.
Rather than being made from the "ashes of heroes", soap is made from
"selling rich women their own fat asses."
The fact that Tyler is a salesman for this product represents Jack's subservience to this culture. Fight Club is founded as a way for men to regain their primitive instinct that culture tries to wash off."
What does the soap in Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk symbolize?
Then just after getting a reply from Alan about the peppermint soap, on my Facebook feed I get notified that Say Lou Lou have a new song called Peppermint.
Which reminds me The Sweet performed a song at their Brisbane concert this year called Peppermint Twist
A song they said they were surprised to see go to number 1 in Australia when they first released it.
My post about the Sweet concert is here -
 Sweet Concert On Wednesday Night
What do you think the odds are of the soap being peppermint smelling in the Ballroom Bathroom?-)
"Look Ma, clean hands".

Dr.Bronner's soap bottles are covered in really strange religious quotes too, like this one in the photo below.
Left click on photo to make bigger.

Cleanliness next to Godliness, is that as good as it gets?-)
Strangelove of soaps, wouldn't you say?
Dr.Bronner might have been a strange guy, but I do like the ethics behind his company and soap products.
One last tip though, don't buy the shaving cream.
It's as good as it looks, if you get my drift.
I also just realized that on my Sweet:The Hits CD right after
Peppermint Twist there is one more song which is not mentioned
on the CD playlist.
You have to wait a few minutes and then it starts playing.
The song is Let It Snow .
"Dr. Bronner’s Magic Foam Experience was inspired by the late Jim Bronner, son of Emanuel Bronner, who invented the industry-standard fire-fighting foam concentrate in the 1980s.
He later modified his foam to make artificial snow for Hollywood sets, and he even created a home foaming unit for blasting snow-like foam for fun in the backyard when his children were growing up.
The Magic Foam Experience was created in his memory."

And here is a picture I spotted of Lady Gaga in a green 237 looking bathroom using Dr.Bronner's Almond soap in the bathtub.

UPDATE: May 29th, 7:21 pm (Australian time)
 How synchy is this?
I wrote the above post and posted it early May 28th, Australian time and about 24 hours later on May 29th (Australian time) I see on the news that a guy jumped onto the Red Carpet and punched Brad Pitt in the face.
I can't believe how synchy this is.
The suspect, 25-year-old Vitalii Seduik
Actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie attend the premiere of Disney's
'Maleficent' at the El Capitan Theatre on
May 28, 2014 (American time).
" Brad Pitt was punched in the face while walking the red carpet at Hollywood's El Capitan theater on Wednesday evening.
Pitt had been attending the premiere of "Maleficent" with his partner, Angelina Jolie, who stars in the film, at the time of the incident.

He was posing for photographs and signing autographs when
"some guy jumped over the barricades and made contact with Brad Pitt,"
Officer Nuria Vanegas of the Los Angeles Police Department told the Los Angeles Times.
The suspect punched Pitt in the face, police told KTLA.
The suspect, 25-year-old Vitalii Seduik,
allegedly attempted to crawl under actress America Ferrera's gown
at the premiere of "How to Train Your Dragon 2"
at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this month."
