A film based on young Australian sailor Jessica Watson's journey is slated for a 2014 release.
Casting for the film based on teenage sailor Jessica Watson's epic solo journey is underway, but reports Nicole Kidman will star in it are "premature", a representative says.
Watson's journey to become the youngest person to sail non-stop and unassisted around the world in 2010 is being given the big-screen treatment with forthcoming film slated for release in 2014.
The flick is based on Watson's book, True Spirit.
On Wednesday, News Corp cited an Australian representative confirming that Nicole Kidman was among a number of names being considered for the flick.
But Watson's agent Andrew Fraser, who is also a Producer on TRUE SPIRIT, told AAP it was premature to be discussing names.
"We are working through a list of names to try and secure key talent, but we won't be discussing names or announcing any, until all our partners are ready to do so."
He said production was "moving forward at a rate of knots," with filming scheduled to begin before Christmas.
Watson, who is now 20, is acting as a key consultant for the project and assisting on the casting, Fraser said.
"Jessica is really excited for this project - she's always been of the belief that it's never quite felt real.”
"Once she read the final screenplay, she was emotional.
She's excited and it will be a relief for everyone once we get the cast ready.”
Matt Nable has written the script for the movie.
" Matthew "Matty" Nable is a former Rugby League footballer turned actor.
After playing in the Winfield Cup Premiership for the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles and South Sydney Rabbitohs during the 1990s.
After another season in England where he played for Carlisle before moving to the London Broncos,he wrote and starred in the rugby league-centred drama The Final Winter in 2007."
Matt Nable will star in the upcoming sci-fi movie
Riddick as Boss Johns
Matt is also an author of two books -
I can't wait to see this movie on the big screen, after reading Jessica's book and meeting her last year at the Byron Bay Writer's Festival.
It will be surreal for sure.
