This movie was released in 2005. That's 10 years before 2015. |
Was the movie Madagascar (2005) ten years ahead of its time synchromystically?
Or should that be 10 years behind the time?
Ben Stiller voices Alex the lion, too.

I wrote a post about Ben Stiller earlier this year and his movie resonating with the year 2015 -

I had never seen the movie Madagascar before; in fact, I never had any interest in seeing it until somebody brought it up the other day in a Facebook conversation in regard to the plane debris of flight MH370 washing up on an island off the coast of Madagascar.
A missing plane found where it shouldn't be?
"The airplane that the Lemurs hold court in is a Lockheed Electra, the same airplane as Amelia Earhart disappeared in on July 2, 1937."
"Authorities have confirmed the piece of a plane wing that washed up on the shores of Réunion, a small island off the coast of Madagascar, came from the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 jet that disappeared in March 2014."
Also, I was reading this book which mentioned the movie as a recommendation, so I took this as my cosmic cue to hire the DVD of Madagascar and pay attention to anything that could relate to the year 2015.
A scene from Madagascar |
If you didn't know that Madagascar was released in 2005, you would think the scriptwriters just pulled news-stories from 2015 newspapers.
Of course, the big story that resonates with this movie, apart from the MH370 parts washing up near Madagascar is Cecil the lion being shot by a dentist.

There was also the blue, black/gold, white dress story hitting the headlines this year.
Blue and black, or white and gold: what colour is the dress? |
And I noticed this scene in the movie when I was watching it.
Marty the Zebra: "I'm ten years old. My life is half over and I don't even know if I'm black with white stripes or white with black stripes!"

On a personal synch level I happen to be a Brisbane Lions fan and have a coffee cup similar to the cup pictured in the movie.
"... you look like a monkey and you smell like one too"? |
The subject of Racism seems to be all over the headlines in 2015, as well, and in the movie the animals insult the monkeys by singing "Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, you look like a monkey, and you smell like one too."

Another famous Marty character in popular Hollywood movies is Marty McFly out of the Back to the Future trilogy.
BTTF celebrates its 30-year anniversary in 2015 and Micheal J Fox who plays Marty McFly is also famous for playing Alex in the TV show Family Ties.

And what about all of those animals escaping from zoo stories in the news this year?
"Perth Zoo is now being forced to review
security at its orangutan enclosure after one of the animals escaped
and took a trip through the public gallery yesterday.
Staff eventually managed to usher five-year-old Teliti back into her sleeping quarters after the break out.
It was the second case of monkey madness for Australian zoos in recent weeks, with a Sumatran orangutan breaking out of its enclosure at Melbourne zoo earlier this month."

"Animals including tigers, lions, jaguars, bears, wolves
and hippos escaped from their zoo enclosures and roamed the Georgian
capital Tbilisi after deadly flooding damaged their cages.
At
least 12 people died in the floods, Tbilisi mayor David Narmania (Narnia ?) said,
while interior minister Vakhtang Gomelauri told an emergency government
meeting that at least 24 were missing. "Rescuers are among the dead," a spokesman at the State Security and Crisis Management Council said.
"At least 36 people have been hospitalised, including 16 with multiple fractures."
Police and soldiers were hunting down the animals, recapturing some and shooting others dead, while rescuers airlifted scores of people trapped by the floods."

"The problem is sharks.
The island has been besieged by them, and at least 18 people have been attacked and seven have been killed since 2011.
The government responded in 2013 with a controversial ban on nearly all surfing and swimming, making Réunion perhaps the world’s only island destination to order residents and tourists to stay out of the water.
The ocean cast up another way for Réunion to make headlines late last month, when a piece of a jet’s wing was found on a beach.
It is thought to be part of a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 that vanished mysteriously in March 2014 with 239 people aboard.
The discovery prompted members of the French military and local beachcombers to scour the island’s shores for other flotsam that might have come from the plane."

You'll just have to fill in the gaps yourself by watching the movie to see what I missed.

SyFy Channel's Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! Also premiered this summer, and featured a resurrected satellite from the Star Wars/Strategic Defense Initiative. The beam from that weapon was used to dissipate the storm all along the Atlantic Coast (Weather Control?). David Hasselhoff plays Gilbert Grayson Shepherd, an Astronaut who pilots the shuttle to the Star Wars satellite. Hasselhoff played Agent Nick Fury in the 1996 made for TV movie Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD.
ReplyDeleteSamuel L. Jackson plays Fury in the Marvel Universe Movies and he starred in 1999's Deep Blue Sea, a film about sharks with enhanced intelligence. Saffron Burrows costarred in Deep Blue Sea and appeared as Victoria Hand on The Agents of SHIELD TV series.
