The Occult Elvis? 🎤💙💘⏺

I've got to admit that I'm not a big Elvis fan, as I see his music as my father's music, that my dad would play on his record player in our home when I was in no mood to hear it being played.

I guess much like my sons aren't into Springsteen's music, because of me always having it on in the house when they were growing up.

Ironically, I noticed Miguel Conner's book 'The Occult Elvis' comes out today (April 8th) on my late father's birthday:-)

I was listening to Miguel Conner on his GenX podcast when he was talking about The Doors and Jim Morrison, right before Val Kilmer died -

Val Kilmer played Elvis in the (written by) Quentin Tarantino movie 'True Romance', which also starred Patricia Arquette, whose birthday it is today (April 8th), too.

Funny thing is my youngest son is a big Quentin Tarantino fan, while me not so much, even though one of my favourite films is 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood'.

I'm a big David Lynch and David Bowie fan.

Bowie was born on January 8th like Elvis was and often collaborated with David Lynch and even starred in 'Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me'.

I'd watched 'Wild at Heart' before going to the USA and was surprised to see that the movie was almost a love letter to Elvis and starring Elvis's ex-son-in-law Nicolas Cage (who celebrates his birthday the day before Elvis' birthday).

When we got back from the USA my son and I sat down to watch both 'True Romance' and 'Wild at Heart', because my argument was that QT must have been influenced by Lynch's movie before writing 'True Romance'.

We even saw a movie at Tarantino's LA cinema 'The New Beverly' while we were in LA in March.

You'd think the cinema was on Sunset Blvd with this photo of mine:-)

Unfortunately, the only movies we had time to see at QT's cinema while we were in LA was 'The Philadelphia Story' and 'Sylvia Scarlett' and I fell asleep halfway through 'The Philadelphia Story' and again during 'Sylvia Scarlett'.

Ironically, the night I sat down to watch 'Wild at Heart' with my son, the next day I found out Richard Chamberlain had passed away.

One of Richard's last television roles was starring as Bill Kennedy in 'Twin Peaks: The Return'.

Chamberlain had hit singing 'Love Me Tender', the song Nic Cage sings at the end of 'Wild at Heart'.

"Richard Chamberlain reached no. 21 on the Billboard Pop singles chart with his version when it was released as a single in 1962 on MGM, no. 15 in the UK, and no. 31 in Canada."

My favourite Richard Chamberlain movie was 'The Last Wave' -

I also saw in the news that Crispin Glover's father Bruce passed away in March.

I don't know why, but I was wondering how many views there were on the Sirit Box You Tube today and was surprised to see there were 424 views, as 424 was my father's cab number for most of his working life.
