King Uke's Tribal Illusions - Part II: Birdman

Bird Man
This is a follow up, or continuation of the King Uke's Tribal Illusions post, as I thought this picture above deserved its own post and I was going to write about my love of Shamanism, but for some reason I just couldn't get my thoughts together on what I wanted to write using the King's magnificent picture of the Birdman, so I just left it to sit in the drafting stage, until I had something say about Shamanism that was worth writing about, instead of trying to force a story out ... which I don't like doing.
Well now, synchronicity has given me one to post.
I was reading this syncro story that was posted at Synchrosecrets;
Stephanie’s Hummingbird
which I had originally read at Hidden Experience;
Hummingbird Synchronicity
about hummingbirds and  Shamanism that involved the reading of the book pictured below.
I made a comment about a Sandra Ingerman You Tube I had watched after reading her book on Shamanic Drumming at the Synchrosecrets site;
"I've never seen a hummingbird in real life, but I remember watching this You Tube;

Shamanic Training Tip Shamanic Journeying Sandra Ingerman
of Sandra Ingerman giving a talk near her big glass windows and near the end of the video (about 4:20 minute mark) the camera pulls back to show birds feeding at the bird feeders outside in the snow.
At first I thought they were hummingbirds, but surely they are more of a tropical bird.
Whatever bird they were, it was fun seeing them in the background flying around at the bird feeders."
 About five minutes after posting that comment I get an e-mail with the subject heading;
"Subject: Defend Yourself Like a Shaman"
from this website;
then I get another e-mail with this article in the body of it;
Scott's custom-made JOURNEY DRUMS
Scott has created countless Drums. He has also guided hundreds of others through the process of making their own Drums. Scott's Drums are octagonal in shape, which honours the traditional design of the Journey Drum.

Unlike the more commonly recognised round 'Healing' Drums, Scott's octagonal Drums are eight-sided in design; a design that incorporates corners and welcomes the shadows that dwell there. He believes that the shadows that hide in these corners acknowledge the 'shadow aspects' of Self that must to be addressed and surrendered if we are to heal; shadow aspects such as fear, limitation, grief and shame.

The octagonal Journey Drum invites us to go within and face these shadows; to overcome them and emerge the other side as whole, healthy beings.

I think the universe is trying to tell me something here;-)

  1. I think the universe is always trying to tell us something but we don't always listen - though you seemed to be well tuned in!

  3. Definitely tuned in. That jelly fish bears an uncanny resemblance to our dolphin/epcot post today. That ingerman tape, by the way, is the one rob uses in his meditation classes. I have found it to be incredibly powerful.

  4. Oops, where'd my comment go? OK, try again, here. That jellyfish image looks like a photo on our blog today of a jellyfish at Epcot. That Ingerman tape is one Rob uses in his meditation course and it's powerful.

    1. I remember a post on your blog months ago where Rob was talking about using a CD in his class of Shamanic Drumming and I mentioned I had just received Ingerman's book on Shamanic Drumming and it came with a CD in the back of the book,and then he replied that it was the exact same CD he was using in his class!?
