Rhino Syncs

I finished reading The Salmon of Doubt today which was
Douglas Adams last novel that he was writing at the time of his death (May 11th, 2001)
Even though it was published, the story was never finished,
It goes to chapter 11, then that's it, so it was really only half a story,
like the half missing cat in the story, you never get to find out
what happened to the other half of it.
Today is also happens to be Roald Dahl's birthday
(13th September, 1916) as well and Dahl's book
James and the Giant Peach
and Adam's story The Salmon of Doubt both feature a rhinoceros.
I've written about the rhino before in this post,
James and the Giant Peach Syncs
The funny thing to me though, is that Adams names the rhino Desmondwhich happens to be my father's name and Adams has a big dialogue about cab drivers portrayed on TV and in real life.
Which is funny to me, as well, as my father was a cabbie for most of his life and I could imagine my dad using the same argument as what's used in the book.
Also the date of Adams passing is the birth-date of my wife, to keep the syncs flowing.
The Melbourne Storm football team who defeated the Leeds Rhinos
at the start of the season to become world champions also played tonight (Friday the 13th) and got beaten by Russell Crowe's
South Sydney Rabbitohs.
"South Sydney is one win away from a grand final berth after some staunch defence and a helping hand from the video referee delivered a 20-10 NRL qualifying final win over reigning premiers Melbourne at Sydney's Olympic stadium."
South Sydney Rabbitohs beat Melbourne Storm 20-10 to advance to NRL preliminary final

Life's too short?
After watching the movie Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy this morning and finding out the guy inside of the depressed robot Marvin is actor Warwick Davis, who stars in the TV series
Life's Too Short
Warwick Davis
I was dumbfounded that Warwick' s birthday is 2/3/70 and on page 237 of The Salmon of Doubt the words "Life was too short" is written.
Warwick also plays Porridge in an episode of Dr. Who titled
Nightmare in Silver which was released on May 11th 2013.
May 11th being the date Adams died on.
It also happens to be episode 13, too.

UPDATE:
Ironically, my own father passed away on what would have been Dahl's 100th birthday in 2016:-(

The 2/3/7 Warwick Davis bit really nailed it.

  2. Yikes. 237 2/3/70. Fantastic. You've got a great eye for these types of details, Daz. Did you see the post on E-Squared? We took your suggestion.

World Champions? What's all this about then? I really have lost touch. This isn't like the American Superbowl "world" champions is it? How did we get to the UK and Australia competing in the finals?

    I smell a rat! ;-)
