Mad World video with one of the Tears For Fears members |
I've had this still from the Mad World original film clip sitting in a file of pictures for a couple of months, because at the time I was looking for images of blue crosses, because of my fascination with blue neon and American Indian crosses (I'm not a Christian either, by the way).
I remembered seeing this image and seeing a blue cross made by the window frame.
Remember I was looking at a lot of blue crosses before seeing the Mad World video clip.
I kept the haunting image of the singer with his hands pressed to the glass as I thought I would need it for a future post, but I had no idea really what about.
Then I saw this other haunting picture in the press of people with their hands pressed to the glass and it really did seem like we were living in a Mad World.
The lyrics and images used in the original 1983 film clip for Mad World seem very appropriate at the moment somehow.

"Mad World"
All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places
Worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere
Going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression
No expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow
No tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it's a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Mad world
Mad world
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday
Happy birthday
And to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen
Sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me
No one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me
Look right through me
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
'Cos I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it's a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Mad World
Mad world
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
'Cos I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it's a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Halargian world
Mad world
All around me are familiar faces
