Schapelle Corby and This is My Surfboard? ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ„

Two books that I read back-to-back recently seemed to weirdly complement one another in my mind.
Both were "autobiographies", but The Sandman's autobiography is much more fictional than fact, as The Sandman is just comedian Steve Abbott's invention for an Australian radio segment and stand-up comedy routine, as far as I know.
I didn't know anything about The Sandman until I read the 1998 book I found in an Op Shop recently and knew nothing about who
Steve Abbott was.
I bought a t-shirt from REMO years ago with the above design of The Sandman in a boat staring into a lighthouse beam and wore that shirt around the house until it fell apart years later.
I only liked it because it reminded me of the Byron Bay lighthouse and found the cartoon image funny.
The Sandman's autobiography came out years before Schapelle Corby's autobiography did, but there were things in The Sandman's autobiography which grabbed my attention in hindsight of reading Schapelle Corby's autobiography first.
Because
The Sandman's autobiography is based around the northern beaches of Sydney, the airport referred to above in the book would have been the Sydney airport where Schapelle left Australia to fly to Bali on October 8th, 2004, with her boogie board bag either filled with weed, or not filled with weed.
What Happened on October 8, 2004
To be honest, I can't even remember what happened on
October 8th, 2004, or the songs that were top of the pop charts that day.
How did I not ever see that 'Call on Me' video above in 2004?
Better late than never, I guess?-)
Steve Abbott must have been proud of his efforts writing this book, because he certainly achieved his goal in the epilogue of the book, as it was pretty much a waste of time reading it, other than me finding out who this Sandman character was.
It's not all that funny to be honest IMO and I've since passed it on to a street library for some other reader's amusement ... or disappointment.
Schapelle Corby's autobiography is worth a read though, as I wrote in this recent post -

What Dope Placed Weedless Wednesday on a Saturday?๐Ÿšฌ๐Ÿšญ๐Ÿคฃ
I still have no idea whether
Schapelle Corby was guilty or not after I had finished reading her book, but I did find it amusing that Channel 9 in Australia made a TV series in 2014 about Schapelle Corby, which was directed by Anh Do's brother Khoa Do.
Schapelle TV Movie (2014)
Anh Do's autobiography 'The Happiest Refugee' is soon to be turned into a movie I hear, and I read his book last year just before seeing him bring the book to life on stage in Logan.
Taking my seat at 'The Happiest Refugee' on the night
I can't wait to see that story on the big screen.
I was surprised to see that Krew Boylan who played the Dolly Parton impersonator in the movie 'Seriously Red' played Schapelle Corby in the 2014 TV series.

REMO Sandman T-shirts
Apparently, you can still buy Sandman shirts at REMO, but I'm over The Sandman to be honest.

How to Celebrate National Eating Disorder Awareness Week?๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿซ

I don't eat chocolate all that much, but when I went to the supermarket on 'International Polar Bear Day' and saw that there was a chocolate infused with Bundaberg Rum I just had to try one of those.
Since it is 'Make Mine Chocolate' time and I don't want people giving live polar bears to people for Easter;-)
Every February 27th
Then I thought I should buy a couple of cans of
Bundaberg Rum and Cola to toast to the polar bears.
But I also bought some
Kahlua, as it was also 'National Kahlua Day' too;-)
Every February 27th
I haven't drunk
Kahlua for decades, and after tasting just how sickly sweet it is, I doubt if I will drink it again for decades to

Calendar Girl Singer Neil Sedaka Dies on the 27th?๐ŸŽค ๐Ÿ“…๐Ÿ“†๐ŸŒˆ

Sad news about Neil Sedaka passing away yesterday, but I guess it was today (Feb 28th) in Australia, since we are a day ahead of America.

How to Celebrate National Carpe Diem Day ... Again?๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒŽ

Carpe Diem Day was yesterday in Australia where I am now, but it's still
Carpe Diem Day in parts of America right now, well the parts I was in this time last year -
I didn't take the day off like Ferris Wheel Bueller this year, I went to work at the Op Shop, cursing my lotto numbers from the night before, then I came home and finished Priscilla's book off that I started last year, after I saw her speak in Brisbane last November -
My view of Priscilla on the night
I only picked up the book and finished it after seeing the movie EPiC last weekend.
After watching
EPiC I watched the movie 'Elvis' again, as I bought a copy a few months ago, and I was amazed at how close Austin Butler mimicked the real Elvis in those Vegas shows, and I wondered how Austin didn't win the Best Actor Oscar for that year.
I also started listening to 'The Occult Elvis' on Audible today, as I had 3 credits up, so I thought it's now or never, I guess;-)
I think it would have been better listening to Miguel Conner read his book on
Audible instead of the English bloke who reads it.
Every February 26th
I found it funny that Priscilla mentions in her book that Elvis didn't like wearing jeans because it reminded him of his working-class roots and the poverty of growing up.
Jeans are pretty much all I wore as my choice of pants when I was in America, as I love wearing jeans, and can't imagine another style of pants that I feel more at home in wearing.
Every February 26th
Letter to an Elder Day
Priscilla even shares a letter that Lisa Marie wrote to her in the book, which was very special to her.
Priscilla's book
Oddly enough, while I was writing this post up, I noticed that I was getting a lot of hits to old posts on my blog about Deepak Chopra.
I thought that he must have died with the hits those posts were getting, but when I did a Google news search about him, I found out that he has been named and shamed in the Epstein files.
Priscilla's book
I really enjoyed reading Priscilla's book and must admit to shedding a few tears while reading it.
