I bought my granddaughter a Bluey Halloween magazine that was at my local supermarket checkout, instead of a book or bag of lollies for this Halloween.
We don't even officially celebrate Halloween over here in Australia, but it is certainly unofficiallycelebrated over here.
I wonder how popular Halloween will be in Australia in 2032?
I'll probably be a ghost by then anyway:-)
And while I didn't buy my granddaughter any junk food this Halloween, I did buy chocolates for any annoying kids that come knockingonmy front door today or night, threatening to trick me if I don't give them a treat:-)
Working in an Op Shop you'll find that one of the most frequent categories of books donated are cookbooks.
Well, at least that's what I have found over the years while working in one.
Cookbooks may be good to have around the home when you have families to feed, but not so good when you eat by yourself most nights, or with one other family member that does their own thing when it comes to meals.
The only cookbook I have on the bookshelf or in the kitchen now is theNorfolk Island Cookery Book, from which I have cooked none of the suggested recipes yet, and probably won't either.
So, the book to me was more of a motivation for me to at some point go to the island.
But my motivation isn't that great anymore, so I'll probably pass the book on to a street library now.
The thing with me when it comes to cooking is that I have set basic recipes that I have cooked over the years of foods I like and tend to stick with those, and when I feel like something different, I get takeaway or eat out ... like tonight.
