27?

One of my Facebook friends Jake Kotze, the great synchromystician himself, changed his profile picture to this on Sept 5th -
Then the next day in the country Jake is from, South Africa,
I see this story in the news about 27 people getting killed by a runaway truck -
" Twenty-seven people were killed when a truck ploughed into traffic west of Durban in South Africa.
A government spokesman said about another 30 people had been injured, some critically, in Thursday's crash.
"Close on 30 others sustained injuries ranging from critical to serious and minor," department of transport spokesman Tiyani Rikhoto said.
The 18-wheeler truck allegedly failed to stop at a traffic light and collided with four mini-bus taxis and a car, said Chris Botha, spokesman for a paramedic service.
He said the scene in Pinetown, 16 kilometres west of Durban, was "absolutely horrific".
It is alleged the brakes on the truck failed, said Kwanele Ncalane, a spokesman for the provincial transport ministry.
The driver has been arrested.
South Africa has a high rate of road fatalities, with about 38 lives lost per day, a report said this week. "

Take a look at how his latest You Tube video started out with a truck, too.

Spooky, or what?

WARNING: Graphic crash footage in the clip below.
This video below is the actual crash recorded on a dash-cam from a a car behind the fateful cars.
I think everyone should take a look at this clip, not for the ghoulish voyeuristic type of reason for a view, but to contemplate the "here today, gone tomorrow" angle of life, and to realize this could always have been you sitting in one of those cabs enjoying a night out which unbeknownst to you would be your last.
This nearly happened to me when I was about 20.
I was on my way to work, in a bit of a hurry and stopped at a red light, with a van, similar to the ones involved in the accident, blocking my vision to my right.
Normally I would race off at a green light, and I was about to this time as well, but a voice in my head said,
"Don't go! Something is wrong here".
I hesitated for a second thinking what a weird out of the blue thought, and then saw a truck similar to the one in the clip barrel through the intersection.
Luckily nobody had jumped the green light.
I was sick because I knew that if not for that voice I would have met a similar fate to the poor people in the clip.
While the clip shows the accident, you don't see any bodies, but it will stay with you for the rest of your life, and that may be a good thing, when you are blindsided at a green light.
It might just save your own life and that of others riding with you.
