There's No Place Like ... Howard's End? π₯ππ‘ππ¬
I recently read and watched 'Howard's End' for the first time in my life, only because it was one of those '1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die' books and that's where I was up to in chronological order going forward through the 1001 books book.
I must admit that I normally would have had zero interest in reading or watching any E.M. Forster books or movies based on his books if I hadn't had been reading the 1001 books book.
'Room with a View' is still my favorite book of Forster's out of the two I have read, so far, but I did find 'Howard's End' an interesting contemplation of what the idea of a home means to various people and in various times.
This novel came out in 1910, before the two big wars that were about to hit the planet, and just as the motor car was replacing the horse.
A Room with a View? π©πAlso, the film stars Anthony Hopkins as Henry Wilcox and Anthony just lost his home in the recent LA fires, which I couldn't help thinking about as I watched him play Henry Wilcox in that movie.
And of course, Jamie Lee Curtis lost her house to the LA fires, as well ... not that she was in 'Howard's End' ... but she was in Jake Kotze's 'Psyncho' alongside Anthony.

Exit the Dragon, Enter the Snake? ππͺππ§¨
The Dragon has taken its exit for another 12-year cycle, until Jupiter goes around the sun again.
And the Snake is now here.

Elon X Bowie X Norton? ππ‘π±π²π΅
Jake has started the Chinese New Year of the Snake off with a bang with his newest You Tube called 'Elon X Bowie X Norton':-)
I just saw 'A Complete Unknown' at the cinema on Monday night where Ed Norton plays Pete Seeger in that movie.

The Snake is Back from Tomorrow? ππ§¨π
Having just completed one whole 60-year cycle of the Dragon zodiac (that is if I make it until midnight) I'm kind of sad the Year of the Dragon is coming to an end and the Year of the Snake is about to begin.

I started reading Bryce Courtenay's novel 'Fortune Cookie' recently, having found it in a street library on the way to a Brisbane Lions AFLW game last year, as I wrote in this post -
Synchronicity and The Hidden Hand in Jeremy Vaeni's Word Salad?✋✍⛅πΈπ»π₯π¦Bryce Courtenay's novel 'Fortune Cookie' |
I see that Bryce Courtenay passed away in 2012, the last Year of the Dragon.
Surprisingly, fortune cookies are a Japanese invention that really got going in San Francisco, so I've heard on a few recent podcasts and reading the never wrong Wikipedia.
"Makoto Hagiwara of Golden Gate Park's Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco is reported to have been the first person in the U.S. to have served the modern version of the cookie when he did so at the tea garden in the early 1900s. The fortune cookies were made by a San Francisco bakery, Benkyodo."The oldest operating public Japanese Garden in North America? |

Allegiant Stadium and Las Vegas |
One Month Until I'm in Vegas with The Sharks? π²πππ¦
It's going to be weird watching football in the stadium on a Saturday night in Vegas knowing that the game is being beamed live to Australia at 2:30pm on Sunday afternoon.
I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would be heading to the USA to watch my footy team play a game that actually counted for points on the footy ladder.
I'm glad I bought my tickets early, as I see that the stadium is already selling out fast.I think they call that an each way bet in Vegas?-)

I guess if The Sharks lose in Vegas, I can always take my shirt off and pretend I'm a Panthers fan having recently modified my old panther tattoo:-)
