Carpe Diem Day: Do Something Out of the Ordinary? 🌏🛫🌎

I wrote in my last post about how I spent most of
Carpe Diem Day and it was literally the longest day of my entire life -
We took off from Brisbane around midday Wednesday 26th and landed in San Francisco around 6am Wednesday 26th, which meant that we arrived in San Francisco about 6 hours before we took off from Brisbane:-)
It was just a coincidence that we happened to do this on Carpe Diem Day, as we hadn't even heard of the day when we had booked our flights.
And we had already planned to visit the Japanese Tea Gardens and walk the Golden Gate Bridge on the first day we arrived in the USA, as we were heading to Alcatraz and the Coit Tower and Grace Cathedral on day 2
So, it was weird reading the suggestion on the Carpe Diem Day webpage to -
Do Something Out of the Ordinary
Drive a different route to work, drink tea instead of coffee, take a walk in the park at lunch, or buy a bouquet of flowers to keep on the desk at work, just because. National Carpe Diem Day doesn’t have to be anything complicated. It can simply be about people enjoying themselves and embracing the moment.
One of the movies suggested to watch on Carpe Diem Day was 'Ferris Bueller’s Day Off', which just happened to be available as an inflight movie, so I watched it.
Although, in hindsight maybe the movie 'The Pursuit of Happyness' would have been a better choice if it was available to watch, as it takes place in San Francisco:-)
I'll have to watch it now that I'm familiar with the layout of San Francisco.
And we did stay in a LA hotel across the road from where that infamous slap of Will Smith's happened;-)
Six Degrees of Will Smith?👏🥊
I don't think I could have spent Carpe Diem Day any better than I did this year and wouldn't know how to top it in 2026 when it comes around again ... hopefully.
Casa Bonita
We were also booked in for a meal at Casa Bonita in Denver, so it was good to watch that South Park episode on the plane on Carpe Diem Day:-)
And getting into Casa Bonita was like passing through airport security, but we didn't have to wait in line for 3 hours;-)
Inflight art imitating life?
Although, I do have a good creepy story about the Denver airport coming soon, as well as pictures from my night at Casa Bonita.
