Hail and ice an 'unusual' summer surprise for Tasmanians in January
"The Bureau Of Meteorology (BOM) in Tasmania went as far as describing the phenomenon of the ground being covered in ice during the Australian summer as "very unusual"."
I have fond memories of seeing snow for the first time in my life in Tasmania back in my duck eating days (I'm now eating pretty much a Vegan diet), as I wrote about in this old post -

I'm looking forward to returning to Tassie in the near future hopefully, as it's a really cool place in more ways than one, I think:-)

A giant hole in the sea ice off the coast of Antarctica could change weather systems in Australia, according to climate experts.
ReplyDeleteOne of the reasons why moving to Tasmania or any other part of Australia might not be the best idea. Antarctica is melting, and the one thing we know for sure about Australia is that the weather was never nice enough to allow for a flourishing agricultural civilization until very recent times, with colonists familiar with modern agriculture. And even now, there are questions about water use by modern Australian farmers, and how long they'll be able to go on with current practices. So the chances aren't all that brilliant that, taking into account climate change, Australia will remain within the belt of climate that allows for easy agriculture. Something to think about.
In such a diverse spread of opinion when it comes to "climate change", I love the "according to climate experts" placed before the reasoning.
ReplyDeleteIt kind of reminds me of all of the Bit-coin experts around now telling you how sorry you will be for not investing/investing in the currency.
