I saw it last Monday night at the cinema with my youngest son, the day he got back from America.
One Battle After Another is a 2025 American action thriller film produced, written, and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, inspired by the 1990 novel Vineland by Thomas Pynchon, according to the movie's Wikipedia page.
I haven't read Vineland, nor do I intend to, but I did read the plot at the book's Wikipedia page after watching the movie to see where the book and movie differ.
The only book that I have read so far of Thomas Pynchon's is 'The Crying of Lot 49', because that's one of his four books that the book '1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die' tells me should be on my bucket reading list -
I did buy 'Gravity's Rainbow' in San Francisco this year, but am yet to read that one -Goin' Down to Chinatown (San Francisco)?🥠
A lot of people like Jake and Jim are talking this movie up, but while I think this movie is worth seeing at the cinema, it's certainly not a favourite of mine, story wise that is.
Paul Thomas Anderson probably does deserve a best director oscar for the way the film is put together, but I'm with this guy in the You Tube below with his criticisms of the movie in general.
I liked in the Jake and Jim 'Cinema Strange' You Tube how Jim explains his reasoning for the love of the number 420 as a personal synch because 4/20 is his birthday, but ironically 4/20 is also Adolf Hitler's birthday:-)
