The Synchromysticism of Gravity Let Me Go? 🏡🌏🦍🎈

I bought
Trent Dalton's new book 'Gravity Let Me Go' at Target on the Friday before his October 12th talk at the Powerhouse and just finished reading it yesterday.
I assume with Trent having 2 daughters that his title is a mash up of the hit 'Frozen' song 'Let It Go' and the 'Wicked' song 'Defying Gravity'?
My view of the October 12th Powerhouse talk
Gravity Let Me Go
When he signed my copy of his book, I had only read chapter 1 at the time, where he compares his book to Mary Shelley's 'Frankenstein', which I thought was good timing as the new movie version of the book was hitting cinema screens in Brisbane on October 23rd, starring Brisbane actor Jacob Elordi as the monster.
But as I read on, I was quite surprised by the timing of some of the pop-cultural references in the book, like his mention of one of his (Noah Cork's) neighbours looking like Robert Redford (who died on September 16th) and the mention of Jane Goodall (who died the day after Trent's book launch).

There were plenty of storm references in his book, which is odd in hindsight with Trent being a mad Brisbane Broncos supporter, and this year the team I love to hate fluked their way to a NRL Grand Final win over the Melbourne Storm (a team I hate nearly as much as I hate the Broncos) and he even mentions Grill'd restaurants in the book, which happens to be The Storm's major sponsor.
If you had have asked me for my personal "worst case scenario" for a 2025 NRL Grand Final, that would have been it.
To me, the Brisbane Broncos winning a GF is 10 times worse than Collingwood winning an AFL GF.
ABC (Anyone, But Collingwood) and ABB for me;-)
The only good national footy club in Brisbane in my book is the Brisbane Lions.

Footy team preferences aside, I liked this new book of Trent's and after his talk I went and saw 'The Travellers' starring Bryan Brown, up the road in the New Farm Cinemas.
New Farm, Brisbane
I found it amusing that the
Netflix movie 'A House of Dynamite' was also playing at the local Brisbane cinemas, as I had read Trent's dig in his book about Logan and dynamite, as even though I spent the first 20 years of my life growing up in Brisbane, I spent the other 40+ years living in Logan.
Dami Im Doesn't Live in Logan Anymore?🏡
I realized that the Dendy Coorparoo cinema had sent me a $1 welcome back movie ticket to use, as they had been closed since the cyclone hit Brisbane when I was in America.
So, I went and saw 'A House of Dynamite' on my way home from New Farm.
I should mention that I read about the passing of Diane Keaton on my phone while looking at this 'The Godfather: Part II' poster while I was waiting to see
'The Travellers'.

The Brisbane Powerhouse reminds me of one of those M. C. Escher drawings:-)
It was good catching up with Trent again, as the last time I saw him and got him to sign a few books was in Bangalow, at 'The Byron Writers Festival' in 2024 -
