Crossing Paths With the "Camel Lady" at the BBWF

Matthew Condon and Robyn Davidson
(The Camel Lady) at the BBWF
I attended the talk above with Robyn Davidson at the
Byron Bay Writers Festival on the Sunday
(last day of the festival)
and couldn't believe that Matthew Condon was the person who got the job to talk to Robyn about her travels.

Matthew was the same guy who talked with Lionel Shriver about her books when she came to Byron Bay earlier this year.

I wrote a post about that talk which you can read by clicking on the link to the post below -
We Need to Talk About Kevin
Lionel Shriver and Matthew Condon at
St. Finbar's Hall, March 1st, 2014
I had also written a post featuring the movie Tracks which was made from Robyn's book, a rather dark post too, I might add -
Black Sea of Oz?

While I did see the movie which Robyn said during the talk she was very pleased with, I'm yet to read her book Tracks that the movie was made from.

"Is it July or August"? See the next photo below;-)
Robyn must have lost track of time, as it
was August when she signed my book:-)
I also finished a book today called One Step Can Change Your Life about breaking goals down into very small steps, so now I'm ready to read Robyn's book, which seems rather appropriate I think.
I was also surprised to find out that Robyn was born in the small town of Miles, which I only ever visited once in my life to attend the funeral of my great grandmother, who is buried in the town.

Miles, Queensland

My father's mother grew up in that town, as well.

And here's a few shots of what the weather was like while Robyn was giving her talk, cold and very wet, for those of you outside Australia who think of the country as being nothing but hot and dry.
I was freezing during this talk.

  2. Byron Bay: I'm more drawn to it each time I read your posts. But, at the moment, my 'tracks' are headed in a different direction.

  3. Perhaps all our tracks should somehow include Byron's Bay. How cool would that be?!
