Jesse John Brand: Cranes Falling in Unison

The above book caught my eye the first day I went to the book tent at the Byron Bay Writers Festival.
It is a small book filled with the performance poetry of Jesse John Brand, who I did end up seeing perform some of these poems while at the BBWF.

"Jesse John Brand is the Australian Poetry Slam National Champion (2013/14), an award-winning prose writer, and a musician.
In 2014, he performs his writing at the Bookworm International Literary Festival in China, Sydney and Byron Bay Writers’ Festivals and the Ubud Writers’ and
Readers’ Festival in Bali."

The book appealed to me because of the title and the illustration, and Jesse's middle name JOHN above the wolf on the cover of his book.
The wolf and the name JOHN reminded me of one of my favourite movies The Grey, which Ive written about here-
Feeding The Right Wolf
plus, the Cranes falling in unison thing resonated with a few of my old posts, too.
Little Peach/Crane Sync
and
Moore Storm Syncs?
and not to mention
Crane Sync with Jake Kotze?
I've noticed that performance poetry has become more and more popular over the last few years at the BBWF, and it is always a pleasure to catch a good performance poet in action at these writers festivals, especially for someone like me who doesn't go out of the way to see performance poets in action.

  1. Stunning cover. I would buy it even if I knew zero about the author/artist.
