Black Saturday?πŸ•³πŸ‡πŸŒˆ⛪🐰

"In many western cultures, this day is referred to as Holy Saturday, but in the Philippines especially, it is called Black Saturday. This is considered to be an important time of grief and mourning, paying homage to it as the day after Jesus was killed in a brutal way. As most of the Filipino culture practices Catholicism, on this day the shops and businesses are closed and even the radio stations either stop altogether or refrain from playing loud or peppy music."
Black Saturday
One of the films suggested at the Black Saturday webpage is Martin Scorsese's 'The Last Temptation of Christ', a film I don't think I have ever watched, because in my home Australian state of Queensland it was banned.
"The Last Temptation of Christ is a 1988 epic religious drama film directed by Martin Scorsese. Written by Paul Schrader, with uncredited rewrites from Scorsese and Jay Cocks, it is an adaptation of Nikos Kazantzakis' controversial 1955 novel of the same name."
I bought a copy of the movie on Amazon Prime and plan on watching it today sometime, as it was $4.99 to rent or $9.99 to buy, so I bought it.
The Nikos Kazantzakis novel is one of the books out of '1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die', but at the rate I'm getting through the book in chronological order from the back and front of that book, I'll be dead before I get to read it, as the book is near the middle of that book:-)
Oddly enough, my nephew and his partner flew to the
Philippines for the first time last weekend to attend a wedding and are over there today and flying back on ANZAC Day next week.
I'll have to ask him what Black Saturday was like.
I noticed that the movie 'The Last Temptation of Christ' came out in 1988, the year I was married:-)
The following year was the Year of the Snake, like it is this year.
