I recently gave away my 'The Secret Life of Bees' book and DVD to a street library, but one scene in the movie that bugged me was when they tied a string to a June Bug and flew it around like it was some sort of living kite.

Apparently, there was a much longer scene featuring the June Bug on a string which got cut from the cinema/DVD movie.
We don't have June Bugs out here in Australia to my knowledge, as June is the start of winter down here, but we do have Christmas Beetles around Christmastime, as that is our summer season.

Ironically, yesterday was the anniversary of Carl Jung's passing and today is a day to celebrate a scarab type beetle ... coincidence?

Every June 7th

Today is also 'National Boone Day' and while I couldn't really care less about Daniel Boone today, last night when I was at the drive-in, I couldn't help thinking of 'The New Mutants' director Josh Boone and what he was up to lately?

As I remember seeing 'The New Mutant' poster on the drive-in candy bar wall when I saw a movie there during Covid lockdown in 2020.

It looks like that Whitley Strieber project of Josh's fell through, as I don't see anything about it on his Wikipedia and IMDB sites.
Probably a good thing, as Whitley Strieber lost the plot years ago with his mix of fact and mainly fiction in my opinion.

On the subject of my drive-in visit last night, Elvis is more than an icon at this drive-in, as they play his music through your speakers/radio before and after the movie, which made me think that I haven't quite finished listening to 'The Occult Elvis' yet, as I missed sections of the Audible book when I fell asleep in parts when I was listening to it in bed a few months ago.

This blog post was meant to be heading in another direction until I saw that today was 'National Boone Day' and my thoughts spiraled to 'The New Mutants' director Josh Boone, who also directed John Green's book adaption 'The Fault in Our Stars'.

That movie came out in 2014, 12 years ago in the Year of the Horse:-)
