Dark Mofo Winter Feast 2016

After getting off the Spirit of Tasmania car ferry at Devonport at 6:30am Thursday on June 16th and driving through the heart of Tasmania I reached Hobart in the early afternoon and parked my car at Salamanca Wharf and had a walk around the area that the Dark Mofo Winterfeast was being held throughout the week, and for me, that night.

Across the road from the Dark Mofo Winterfeast site is Parliament House Gardens and I noticed all the statues in this area have been covered in pink plastic while Dark Mofo is on ... well I surely think they wouldn't be covered like this all-year round.

TV cameras were out in force with reporters interviewing someone who I presume was a politician, not that I knew who they were.

Someone in Hobart is a party pooper it seems

 I was to find out later that weekend that Hobart is plagued by real rabbits, as I wrote about in this post -

If it's not crows stalking me on this road-trip, it's seagulls.

I got in my car after walking around the Salamanca Wharf area and headed off to Sandy Bay to find where I would be staying for the next four nights.

Wrest Point Casino

The Wrest Point Casino building is the tallest building in Hobart at 17 stories high, and while my room is not in that building, it is in the same complex.

After unwinding in my motel room for the rest of the afternoon, it was back to the city when night fell to have something to eat.

I highly recommend the Dark Mofo Winterfeast, my only regret was driving to the venue and not being able to have a few more drinks than was legally possible.
