Today in History - July 5:

July 5th was my youngest son's birthday, and he happens to have been born on the exact same day as the Brisbane Lions' Charlie Cameron, who scored 3 goals for the Lions on Saturday night (his birthday).

I had read the story about Jody Foster getting mauled by a lion on July 5th, 1972, on July 5th, 2025, in the national Australian news media, and then the next day (July 6th) I read of a woman losing her arm to a lioness in a Queensland zoo not that far from my hometown of Brisbane.

My old wedding anniversary falls on Jody Foster's birthday:-)

I had asked my son if he wanted to go to the Gabba Saturday night to watch the Lions play, but he was heading down the Gold Coast with his friends to celebrate his birthday, so I stayed home and watched the game on TV.
The only Lions game we have seen live at the grounds together this year was the first game in Sydney, when we returned home from our American trip, as I wrote in this post -
