The Kangaroo Point Bridge is Brisbane's newest bridge crossing the Brisbane River in my hometown, and I walked across it on the last official day of spring in Australia (AKA November 30th) with my younger brother, after visiting our mother who had been in a hospital near the entrance to the bridge.November 30th was also the last day of 'Historic Bridge Awareness Month', so what better day to walk across the newest bridge in my hometown?
Ironically, I had no idea this bridge was open until the first time I went to visit my mother in the hospital in November and saw people walking across the bridge when I was standing in the hospital carpark. |

The last historic bridge I walked across before walking the Kangaroo Point Bridge in November was the Sydney Harbour Bridge, just after my youngest son and I got back from America and after walking the Golden Gate Bridge when we arrived in America on my first day in the country. |

The Kangaroo Point Bridge turns 1 year old on Monday according to the plaque on the bridge that I read on November 30th.

It's a slightly downhill walk to the Brisbane CBD from Kangaroo Point.
There are a few restaurants on the bridge at the city end but none on the bridge at the Kangaroo Point end. Although, some of my favourite restaurants in Brisbane are in Kangaroo Point.
You can see the Story Bridge from the CBD end of the Kangaroo Point Bridge, and oddly enough, I haven't done a walk across that bridge in years, even though I drive across it a lot. I guess I'll have to put a walk across the Story Bridge onto my "Bucket List"?-)
