Flow Like Poe?

MC Lars
On Thursday the 27th Sept, 2012 The Beatles movie
Magical Mystery Tour was shown around the world on cinema screens for just the one day.
I've got a ticket to ride:-)
My youngest son and I decided to go to the 10:30 am session of the movie.
It was basically the new DVD release projected onto a cinema screen.
They showed The Making of Magical Mystery Tour, then they rolled the Magical Mystery Tour, then they finished the screening with a short film called Meet the Supporting Cast, a feature on the background and careers of Nat Jackley, Jessie Robins, Ivor Cutler, The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, Victor Spinetti, George Claydon, and Derek Royle.

Now, a funny thing happened here, the night before I had an e-mail from my friend in the States, Trish MacGregor asking if I had any luck on the job front, and I told her I had an offer to drive forklifts for a big supermarket chain, but that I really wanted to try another line of work, because after 24 years of driving forklifts I really am just going through the motions.
I had no idea what I really wanted to do for a living.
Trish being an astrologer as well as an author offered to do my birth-cart for free and e-mail it back to me.
Just before I was going to head out to the movies with my son to see
Magical Mystery Tour there was an e-mail from Trish with my birth-chart and interpretation, which I didn't have time to read before the movie, as I was running a little bit late.
Now as they were rolling the credits for Meet the Supporting Cast, which was the last of the three movies off the DVD shown at that session, there was a producer of some sort by the name of ... drum-roll please ... TRISH MacGREGOR.
What are the odds?

UPDATE:
It was actually TRISH McGREGOR in the credits when I saw it later on the DVD.
Still, pretty darn close all the same.
Updated photo I put in of the credits a
couple of weeks later
off my new DVD
After the movie was over my son wanted to go check out  a location about 200 metres from the cinema, which happened to be a fire-hydrant near the river.
He plays a treasure hunting game on his phone called Geocache where players hide various things around the world, and other players have to find them with the device on their mobile phones.
This was what he found at this location.
An owl earring/trinket (which I now have, because it reminded me of the blue owl off the Bluesfest posters, and also a blogger whose blog I read often ... Mike Clelland ... and his obsession with owls
We decided to head off for lunch and since we were going across the Story Bridge I decided it would be fun to go under the bridge and eat at one of the restaurants around there.
The Story Bridge Hotel
The outside seating area of Deery's resturant
I suggested a pizza pace, which turned out to be closed till 4:30 pm,
so my son suggested Deery's restaurant and that he would pay the bill.
But first we headed under the bridge as my son said there was another Geocache treasure around there to find, and since I hadn't wandered around under the bridge since the floods, I thought it would be nice to take a look around.
So I took a seat to watch the boats go by, as my son headed off to the other side of the park to find the treasure that his phone indicted was about 250 metres away from the park bench I was sitting on.
As I was looking around the park I noticed a crow eating off the top of a BBQ under a tree.
Last time I was under here I saw a kookaburra and some smaller birds, but this was the first time I had seen a crow under the bridge.
The crow reminded me of the lyrics out of I am the Walrus from the movie we had just seen.
Especially the line  -
"Man, you should have seen them kicking Edgar Allan Poe"
My youngest son, Sean
While we were having our lunch I asked my son what he had planned for the night.
He told me he was meeting up with his older brother in the city because Kevin's friend who he has done backing beat tracks on a few songs of his, was playing at a nightclub in the city that night only, and they wanted to meet up.
I'm not into Hip-Hop, so I didn't think it would make any difference if he told me who it was he was meeting up with anyway.
It was only when Kevin showed me MC Lars' latest EP that Kev had bought on the night The Edgar Allan Poe EP, that the sync dropped.
That's when I started looking this guy's videos up on You Tube and I realized that I had heard this song below before -
My son had apparently helped MC Lars out with the beat mix on this clip below -
This tune is very familiar to me, and I think I've heard this seeping through my son's walls from every angle over a period of weeks ... so it's more of a nightmarish flashback than a memory;- )
Looks like my son did have something to crow about after all.

MC Lars is also a bit of a cartoonist, by the looks.
The above cartoon was named Darren and Sean, which just happens to be mine and my youngest son's names.
And if you were scratching your head about the name
Andrew Nielson, well that's MC Lars' real name.
27th Street
MC Lars would be kicking himself, Migaloo the white whale turned up unexpectedly the day he was just up the road -

"Not only did my friend Susan send me 3 photos of a bunch of unusual crows she saw near her home...
BUT I'm in the middle of Bradbury's Martian Chronicles, and I'm currently reading the short story Usher II
The story deals with a man named Stendhal who creates a 'haunted' house on Mars, as a reaction to his discontent over the fact that fictional books --
like those of Edgar Allan Poe--
were banned and destroyed on Earth."

"But wait, there's more.
In-between my last comment at Loren's site and your comment here,

I went to check my mail at the post office and saw I had a two4one voucher to rent a DVD at my local video rental store.
I was after the movie "Salt" and thought since I wasn't paying for the second one,
I may as well get
"The Grey" out again and watch it.
I found "Salt" on the real cheap $ shelf and "The Grey" was still classed as a first release DVD (but you could have it for 3 nights)

so you paid top dollar.
Since the voucher was for equal value,

I decided to get 3 DVDs and just pay for "Salt" separately.
But that meant I had to find another first release DVD.
Guess what I found ... and it was only released today?
"THE RAVEN" .

I'll take a photo and post it above as an update."
Me
Does it get any weirder?

Update: Oct 5th, 2012.
In case anyone was wondering why the cinema is called
Dendy Portside, it is because it is a cruise ship terminal where people board huge passenger ships.
Where my son found the owl trinket is where the ships anchor in Brisbane.
Here's some pictures that I took months
ago when a ship was leaving

Owl trinket was found near the brown
and white building about
200ft.away
Looking from the "Portside" complex
to the
Gateway Bridge, Brisbane
This is the building the Dendy cinemas are in

  2. I've been waiting for you to post some Brisbane photos. The river seems to be an important thing for you... you're always near it...
I've only been to Brisbane twice... three times if you include a visit to see the Crocodile Hunter (when there used to be a Crocodile Hunter). The first was to the Botanic Gardens. The second was to here https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=brisbane&ie=UTF-8&ei=DJxoUNyLJ7Ok0AWv8oDwCg&ved=0CAsQ_AUoAg (I think). Is this near to where your photos above are from?

No.I don't know how Google maps work as far as pinning a location, but it if you search for the Dendy cinemas on the map,you will see what part of the river those photos come from.
The park under the Story Bridge where I took the photos is on the south side of the bridge.

The icon that I use is actually a photo of myself reflected off a roof at Kangaroo Point aw well.

  5. ENOUGH!!!

Now *I* have something to crow over, Synchro-Darren :P

  7. Oh...and before I spotted
"The Raven",I had "John Carter" in my hand, because CK is always writing about it and I haven't seen it yet.
But it will have to wait for another day,as my jaw dropped when I saw "The Raven" sitting on the shelf.

  8. They say 'The Raven' wasn't that good, though ;)

  9. I haven't watched it yet,but the fact it went straight to DVD out here seems like a bit of a worry.
I see Rotten Tomatoes gave it 22%.
Oh well,I'll watch it tomorrow in the daylight hours,as it's nearly mid-night in Oz,which is a bit too creepy to be watching a film about Poe:-0
