I like how today is 'Singles Day', as I'm currently single and love being single.

Ironically, I got engaged to my now ex-wife on this day back in 1987.

I even went to the cinema by myself and saw two movies to celebrate 'Singles Day'.

And had lunch by myself as well:-)

I deliberately proposed to my now ex-wife on this day back in 1987 because it was 'Remembrance Day' and I joked that I would always remember that anniversary every year, now I just want to forget about that relationship:-)

I see that it is also 'National Education Day' today, so I guess we all learn from our mistakes?-)

The two movies I saw were separate sessions, but in the same cinema, so it was like seeing a double bill and they both had similar themes and kind of both focused on the city of LA.

'Rise of the Underdog' was filmed mostly in my hometown of Brisbane and the Gold Coast, just down the road, but some of it was filmed in LA.

Ironically, I noticed in the movie 'Good Fortune' they use the Go-Betweens' song 'Streets of Your Town', which was written about Brisbane originally, I think and came out the year I was married.

And while 'Good Fortune' starts with the star of the film overlooking the city of Los Angeles, the movie 'Rise of the Underdog' more or less ends with the star of the film overlooking the city of Los Angeles:-)

I looked up Mack Lindon's IMDB page (as I had not heard of him before this week) to see what other movies he had been involved with and saw that he had an uncredited role in the movie 'Ned Kelly'.

Ned Kelly was hung on November 11th, 1880, and I noticed a few references to Ned in Mack's movie, so I picked the right day to see this movie, I guess?-)
