I recently read/listened to the 1898 novel 'The War of the Worlds' by H. G. Wells and I was thinking this book must have got one mighty boost in sales from Orson Welles adapting the book for the infamous 1938 radio play.
And I find it ironic that Scientologist Tom Cruise starred in and produced a 2005 version of the book for the big screen, considering that Scientology was started by a Sci-Fi writer who wrote stuff that would make Wells' stuff look rather sane, if Wells wanted to start a religion:-)
The Inter-dimensional War of the Worlds?"On 28 October 1940, on the radio station KTSA in San Antonio, Texas, Wells took part in a radio interview with Orson Welles, who two years previously had performed a famous radio adaptation of The War of the Worlds. During the interview, by Charles C Shaw, a KTSA radio host, Wells admitted his surprise at the sensation that resulted from the broadcast but acknowledged his debt to Welles for increasing sales of one of his "more obscure" titles."
In 1978, Jeff Wayne produced a musical album of the story, with the voices of Richard Burton and David Essex.
So, there was another boost to Wells' book sales I would imagine?
And what about the 1996 'The War of the Worlds' knock-off starring another Scientologist (?) actor, Will Smith?

It all started with Tom Cruise? |
Kind of weird too how 'Independance Day' starts on July 2nd (World UFO Day) passes through July 3rd (Tom Cruise's birthday;-) and ends on July 4th:-)
I guess all the world is a stage full of BS (Belief Systems)?

Is The Door in The Wall by H G Wells a Ghost Story or Sci-Fi?π»π⚛πͺ
