It must be a UK thing, as I saw at the official site that the sparrow is so far the most counted bird?

Funny thing was the day my mother passed away I was coming out of the hospital with my son, my sister, and her partner and I spotted a sparrow on the ground in front of me, and I said in astonishment "look, a sparrow".

I haven't seen a sparrow near me in Southeast Queensland for years.

There used to be heaps of sparrows in my backyard when we were growing up in Brisbane, but I just don't see them around Brisbane/Logan much anymore.

Maybe the other birds have scared them away over the years?
