Looks like the makers of 'MaXXXine' timed their movie release right with the obvious nod to 'Chinatown' in the trailer above.

"MaXXXine had its premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles on June 24, 2024, and is scheduled to be released in the United States by A24 on July 5, 2024."

And I see that Robert Towne passed away on July 1st, 2024 -
