I thou-ght Thor might have been the god of climate change sounding so much like the word "thaw".
Mysterious craters blowing out of Russia could mean trouble for the whole planet?
Maybe it's because I saw the above headlines before watching 'Thor' that I kept thinking of the word thaw and it's mythological and real implications?
The thing is that science today is becoming more like stage magic and real magic combined to the point that "we the people" don't know what to believe, especially in the "science"/mythology of climate change.
Is the world heating up?
Just going through a natural cycle like it always has ... with not necessarily good results for humans?
Or is it headed for another Ice Age?
Pick a card.
In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king I guess;-)
This movie version of the old Norse myth seems to combine the UFO mythological world into the mix, as well, to come up with a modern mash-up mythological storyline.
Apart from all of the seemingly Ancient Alien type veiled references and maybe the modern technology that's implied to come with it to bless/curse our modern world, I couldn't help thinking of the shamanic drug type imagery and themes in this film ... to my eyes anyway.
And look at all of the tornado Oz type imagery in the movie, especially when Asgard is flipped on screen to resemble those brainstorms I wrote about ages ago in this old post -
Not in Kansas Anymore?
And what about all of that dartboard type imagery in the sets?-)
Flipside of the Dartboard
There is a lot of interesting things in this movie to contemplate whether consciously intentional, or not.
And the thing that puzzled me the most while watching this movie was why a real-life Scandinavian furniture store didn't get a product placement in this scene where an OK Furniture store sits on the corner?
I suppose there's not enough space on that corner to plonk a big ugly blue box on, but maybe there could have been a big sign on the corner stating that there is an IKEA down the road out along route 666?-)
Now I have to try and stay awake tonight when I watch the second movie in the series where Dorothy ... I mean Jane ... goes to Oz ... I mean Asgard.

Thawsday fast approaches it seems?-) |
Climate change gods aside though, I found some interesting things in the movie of the Thor myth.
Where are the magic gloves on that old Thor, by the way? |
"It may shock you to learn that Stan Lee and Jack Kirby did not do an accurate job bringing the Norse god Thor and his mythology into the Marvel comics universe back in 1962.
If they had, they would have been arrested, because Norse myths are full of murder, mayhem and weird sex, most of which still wouldn’t be publishable nowadays."
We're not in Kansas anymore?-) |
The Bifrost/Rainbow Bridge? Over the rainbow? |
