I heard in a roundtable interview with Jordan Peele (the You Tube above the one above) and the main human stars of 'NOPE' that Jordan told the main actors in the film to watch 'No Country For Old Men' as one of a handful of films to watch before filming started, which explains the coin/bad miracle scene in 'NOPE' I imagine.
I haven't caught a screen capture of the coin which kills OJ's and Emerald's dad yet, but in the trivia section of the movie's IMDB page it is stated that -
The U.S. nickel that kills Otis Haywood Sr. is dated 1979 and that Jordan Peele was born in 1979.Which to me would make a lot of sense to Peele's personal point.
