I never knew about Donald Cammell's suicide (or Donald Cammell for that matter) until listening to Kenneth Anger's commentary on my 'Lucifer Rising' DVD, which I watched after listening to Jenny at the Red Room podcast talk about Kenneth Anger in the 'The Scandalous World of Hollywood's Golden Age: Death, Addiction & Tragedy' episode (the You Tube at the top of this post).

Donald Cammell played Osiris in 'Lucifer Rising', but he was also a writer/director himself.

"Cammell's final film before his suicide in April 1996, the film had a troubled production history and was initially a straight-to-video release. A director's cut reconstructed after Cammell's death was released in 2000 and was well-received by some critics. It is considered by many to be a cult film."

Donald Cammell: The Ultimate Performance

In 1999 (the Year of the Rabbit) a film was released titled 'Donald Cammell: The Ultimate Performance' which I recently watched on my computer.

Also in 1999 a film called 'The Argument' directed and written by Donald Cammell was released, which to me seemed to be a piss take of 'Lucifer Rising'.

I watched a 3-part You Tube of the movie last week.

Donald was certainly an interesting writer/director.

So, Donald certainly was an interesting part of the Hollywood/Music scene it seems.

Almost as interesting as Kenneth Anger I would say.

And I can't help thinking that the director of 'Evil Dead Rise' got the idea for the opening credits of the movie from Anger's film 'Lucifer Rising'.
