"Sorry, off subject but thought this free gift might appeal to you:

It's one of those clever viral marketing campaign ads where it looks like someone found an amusing e-mail from a friend and passed it on to another friend and so on.
Cheap form of advertising from a company whose bottom line is cheap.
But, having worked for the cheap b#st#rds for 24 years, I can tell you if that was a real IKEA snowman the carrot would be missing, or well out of reach;-)
I like the "Happy Holidays" below the IKEA logo on the sign that looks like it might just be nailed to a crucifix anyway.
I'll bet that's meant for the customers and not their co-workers.
Good luck spending time with your family over the holidays if you work for this mob.
They would gladly open any holiday they could open legally and try and screw their staff with the lowest pay-rate they could.
I'm glad I don't work for them anymore.
At least this year I will have "Happy Holidays";-)
Here's a free ad for you Ingvar -
IKEA - A Four Letter Word For Furniture.
At least you won't have to worry about snow in the place you're headed for.
An IKEA badge I modified with the word
home to make it more believable.
Oh ... and just so you know where I'm coming from, in case you have not read this blog before

  1. Your free of them now, let 'em go.

I was a manager with a finance company for many years when the company decided to merge three offices and said I should 'apply' for being manager at the new much bigger office - higher salary etc. etc.

I said 'no' took the voluntary redundancy financial package instead and never looked back. Best thing I ever did! And sure it will be the same for you too.

  2. It has hardly anything to do with me leaving them,Mike. This is stuff that I thought about them when I was working for them.
That badge with the word Home on it I had sitting on my shelf at least
2 years before I left, because that's how I genuinely felt at the time and I know most staff working on the front lines in that place felt the same. It's only some of the bluggers in upper management that would find that place tolerable, because they were/are a law unto themselves
(who wouldn't like to take as many smoke breaks as you felt like,or walk away from the action when the going got tough?).
They are the one's who would enjoy "working" there, but for the rest of the slaves I think they would agree with that badge.

Now,I'm free to write what I think about them, within reason, without getting called up for a talk,or threatened with the sack.
The redundancy is just the cherry on the cake to show people what sort of rewards you can expect after 24 years of slavery in a hot warehouse at the a#se-end of the operation.
A lot of people used to asked me why I didn't get into a management possition in the company. The answer I would give them and mean it was so I could sleep at night.
But as you start finding out the dark side of IKEA that the company's propaganda can't hide,no matter how often they say sorry,it soon becomes restless sleep that you're having anyway.
