Do You Believe These ARE the Good Old Days?

I was watching this Dave Graney/Clare Moore music clip above the other night after coming home from listening to a talk by Dave about his latest book 'Workshy' and found the visuals in the clip nostalgic and at the same time 'The Shining' kind of creepy.
The (Love) Shack?
A lot of people tend to look back to their childhood memories as the "good old days", while they fear the future or the troubles of today.
The truth is though that those days weren't really any better or safer than the present time that we are living in.
Oops!
That's not the quote I was looking for;-)
There we go.
The trick is to see the beauty hidden in the moment when you aren't being chased by the axe murderers of life.
I was also listening to the latest Oprah podcast with Dani Shapiro (above) and when she mentioned that "these ARE the good old days" I hadn't heard that saying before, but it resonated with what I was thinking while watching Dave and Clare's music clip, "This is The Deadest Place I've Ever Died In".
It's always comforting to retreat into the best bits of the past, but the truth is that this present moment is the best time and the worst time to be alive.
Same as it ever was ... just smell the roses and don't become frozen in a mythical past.
