The First Day of the Year of the Tiger?

1/2/2022 is the first day of the Year of the Water Tiger for 2022 and it was weird watching a You Tube live feed last night from a Buddhist temple ceremony that I have personally sat in on in years gone by ... not that I'm a Buddhist though, even though my beliefs are similar.
It was also weird seeing the pews missing and replaced with chairs spaced out in the social distancing way of the times.
Plus, no lion dance at the end was a bit sad I thought:-(
I ate my home cooked Singapore Noodles and saw the New Year in with a whimper more than a bang.
The Eve of the Tiger?
My noodles were delicious I thought, but I nearly made a huge mistake when I had bought sesame oil to fry the ingredients in where it was peanut oil that Asians fry with, as sesame oil has a low smoke point and peanut oil a high smoke point.
So lucky for me that I looked up a website to check if sesame oil was a good stir-frying oil at this website, and then had to do a dash to the supermarket and get some canola oil, otherwise my smoke alarms would have seen the New Year in, and my meal would have tasted terrible apparently according to the website.
Hopefully 2022 can be pulled from the dumpster fire that 2021/2020 turned out to be, too:-)
But at least last year the temple activities were closer to normal than this year was -
