Whitley Streiber's life experiences told by him has fascinated me since his book 'Communion' came out in 1987, the Year of the Rabbit, for some reason, whether that is from a strictly pop-cultural point of view on how that book has influenced the "collective consciousness" or for the reason that there may just be some gold nuggets floating in all that mud of his consciousness.
None of Strieber's books make it into the '1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die' book, which I'm reading right now and probably still will be until the day I die, but maybe Strieber's 'Communion' should be in there for various reasons, not that it is a great book, though.
Maybe it didn't make the cut because it was considered a "true" story, rather than a novel?-)
Ironically, 'Solaris' is one of the books I'm told I have to read before I die, and I had just watched the 2002 movie that was made from the 1972 movie and the 1961 book last night on Disney Plus, because 'Solaris' was mentioned in another book I'm reading at the moment called 'The Secret Life of Puppets' by Victoria Nelson -

While Whitley can come up with some good insights at times (like any human can who studies pop-culture) he also comes up PK Dick style with some batshit crazy conclusions as to what life is all about, seemingly driving himself slowly insane like the Kris character in 'Solaris'.
But Whitley also seems to have some kind of saviour complex imagining himself as a minor Christ figure here to save the world through his own WOKE delusions, much like another Christopher at 'The Secret Sun' blog, who takes a piss on the 2002 movie with his recent delusional, but somewhat amusing post -
