As some churches mark Sea Sunday this week, we turn to the ocean as place of work and ministry.
Deacon Patrick Moore is the director and chaplain at the Stella Maris Seafarers' Centre in Freemantle, Western Australia.
He reflects on many years attending to the needs and wellbeing of shipping workers that pass through the port.
And, we take a dive deep into stories of sea monsters, unruly oceans, and massive floods that are widespread in many of the world’s religious and mythological traditions.
Dr Tamara Prosic is an expert on the mythology of ancient west Asia, including the Babylonian creation epic Enuma Elish.
She tells Meredith about the Mesopotamian myth, and examines the sea as a threatening and transformative place in the biblical story of Jonah.
