Soul Searching on Sea Sunday?

Soul Search Podcast: Stories from the sea: from ancient myths to merchant ships
As some churches mark Sea Sunday this week, we turn to the ocean as place of work and ministry.
Deacon Patrick Moore is the director and chaplain at the Stella Maris Seafarers' Centre in Freemantle, Western Australia.
He reflects on many years attending to the needs and wellbeing of shipping workers that pass through the port.
And, we take a dive deep into stories of sea monsters, unruly oceans, and massive floods that are widespread in many of the world’s religious and mythological traditions.
Dr Tamara Prosic is an expert on the mythology of ancient west Asia, including the Babylonian creation epic
Enuma Elish.
She tells Meredith about the Mesopotamian myth, and examines the sea as a threatening and transformative place in the biblical story of
Jonah.

Fire on US naval ship USS Bonhomme Richard
The blaze at Naval Base San Diego in California was reported shortly before 9:00am on Sunday (local time) on
USS Bonhomme Richard, US Navy spokesman Mike Raney said.
Seventeen sailors and four civilians were taken to hospital with "non-life threatening injuries", Mr Raney said in a brief statement.

On 5 August 2017, a U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey of Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit took off from Bonhomme Richard and then crashed in Shoalwater Bay on the east coast of Australia.
Twenty-three personnel were rescued, while three died, their bodies being recovered about three weeks later.
