Benebell Wen writes how the moon stabilizes the Earth's rotation and effects the tides and maybe female fertilization cycles and writes about the waxing and waning moon cycles.
When I was reading 'Moby Dick' I had placed the book back cover face up next to 'The Tao of Craft' and noticed the whaling ship sailing on a full moon with the mad one-legged captain intent on catching that white whale like a mad man.
And what do they say about lunatics and a full moon?-)
Tonight is Chinese New Year's Eve because of the New Moon. And let's not forget Easter always falls on the full moon weekend, so maybe there is something special about the phases off the moon and ritual?
There is also a subchapter about the 4 seasons that follows, which makes me wonder if celebrating Chinese New Year in the southern hemisphere is somehow different, because it is summer in this part of the world and winter in Asia?
Of course, the same applies for Easter, as Easter falls in autumn down here when it is spring in the northern part of the planet.
