I've been reading a lot of books lately both fiction and non-fiction about the subject of Artificial Intelligence, as well as watching movies about AI -

And is also discussing his book on the latest episode of 'New Thinking Allowed' with Jeff Mishlove.

Watched "The Creator" last weekend and it's a great movie. By the looks of the reviews most people don't get it, but I think eventually they will (or will spend the rest of their lives being bitter, but how is that my problem?)
ReplyDeleteIf you ask me, it's what "Blade Runner" was when "Blade Runner" came out (and the sequel of "Blade Runner" isn't, that's mainly for people who got hung up on the original "Blade Runner"). What I think the director of "The Creator" totally groks that a lot of people don't, is that human ability has not changed noticeably since "Blade Runner", but computers have become a lot better. So the match between human and machine in the time of "Blade Runner" happened at this crazy psychedelic-like level back then. But today, it happens at this much more sedate, human-friendly level. So the movie works just at the level that it should work, and leaves space just for the things it needs to leave space for.
