The Chinese zodiac goes in 12-year cycles, so it's a bit of a coincidence that "the world's cutest" dog was born in the Year of the Dog in 2006 and passed away in the Year of the Dog right near the end of the cycle a few weeks before the Year of the Pig starts in 2019.
