The Need for Shamanism in the Contemporary World?

"Christina Pratt, author of the two-volume "Encyclopedia of Shamanism," talks with Jody Seay in this excerpt about how people, especially in America, can practice shamanism in their contemporary life and sphere of influence, and use their relationship with spirit to make better decisions.
Contemporary people practicing shamanism are not crazy people in the woods banging on drums, but rather are spiritual adults making decisions that honor the connectedness of everything in a practical way, and making an effort to stop contributing to those things in the world that they don't like.
By doing our "shadow work"-- transforming those enemies inside us into our greatest allies-- we can regain our sense of humor, our sensuality and sexuality.
It is through these allies that we can tap into our greatest power from the heart, so that we can live our soul's purpose, and do what we came here to do in this life, thus strengthening the fabric of the universe."
"Shamanism is not a religion, it's an approach to spirituality"
