Notes on a Nervous Planet Approaching Maximum Overdrive?

Reading the chapter 'How Do You Stay Human in a World of Change?' from Matt Haig's great book 'Notes on a Nervous Planet', I couldn't help thinking of Stephen King's pretty crappy and ... what I thought at the time ... totally stupid 1986 movie 'Maximum Overdrive' when Matt mentioned Ray Kurzweil and his book 'The Singularity is Near'.
Stephen King in his 1986 movie
'
Maximum Overdrive'
The head is based on that of
Marvel Comics
' Green Goblin
"Stephen King, being a former cocaine addict, later admitted that he was "coked out of my mind" the entire time he was making this picture and often didn't know what he was doing.
He remarked that he'd like to try directing again someday, this time sober."
Things Go Better with cOKe?
When that movie came out there was no internet like we have today and the premise of intelligent machines taking over the planet through the electrical grid just seemed comical more than horrific.
But in 2018 it ain't so funny anymore and maybe a re-write and re-boot of King's old movie would make for a good horror story this time round.
Maybe I should ask Siri what she thinks of a 'Maximum Overdrive' re-boot?-)
I also thought it was ironic that Matt Haig brings up AI around page 42 of his book:-)
Probably means nothing though.
LOL?
Probably not a good idea to hitch-hike in the future either, come to think of IT.
"If you listen closely you can hear the ice cream truck's tune is "King of the Road"."
