Eat Pray Love ... Because It's Just a Ride?

A scene from the movie
'EAT PRAY LOVE'

Want to go on that ride again?-)
2020 has been a wild ride for the world so far, and I've been sorting through old books, movies and CDs and deciding which ones to keep and which ones to give away.
The movie and book 'EAT PRAY LOVE' will be two of the items going to the secondhand bookstore this week, and while I didn't like the main through-line of the book and movie about finding "happiness" and a life "soul mate", there was some gems to think about in both the movie and the book, even if overall I found them both disappointing, especially the movie.
It is interesting though to watch the movie from a 2020 perspective and to think about what has happened to the travel industry and the effect the corona-virus has had on places like Italy, India and Bali (Indonesia).
Not to mention Liz Gilbert's home country the United [?] States of America.
My old Bill Hicks DVD
I've been playing my old Bill Hicks CD and DVD (which are headed for the secondhand bookstore) and I couldn't help thinking about his "It's just a ride" rant about life being like a roller-coaster ride at an amusement park, which in hindsight is probably not such a good metaphor -
Theme Parks and the movie industry have been hit hard in 2020 also, but movie streaming sites like Netflix and Amazon Prime have done quite well for themselves in these times of social distancing and lockdowns it seems.
I've been watching 'The X-Files' on Amazon Prime, while reading the book 'The Complete X-Files' which was co-written by Chris Knowles of 'The Secret Sun' blog, and I watched the very amusing and philosophical episode titled 'Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose' aired on Chris Carter's birthday of 10/13 (October 13th) in 1995, and starring the late Peter Boyle.
That episode ponders the role of fate, luck and chance in life, and just how good fortune tellers and psychics are at knowing the future.
From the book 'The Complete X-Files'
The movie and book 'EAT PRAY LOVE' starts off in Bali with
Liz Gilbert having her palm read and told her fortune, which inspires Liz to go on her world trip and return to Bali and meet her (then) "soul mate".
'EAT PRAY LOVE' trivia
In 'The X-Files' episode
'Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose' Peter Boyle's character is obsessed with the Buddy Holly plane crash, but not because of Buddy Holly though, he was more concerned about the Big Bopper's fate/luck of getting a seat on the doomed flight from the toss of a coin.
It's just a ride?
Starring Sally Kemp (not pictured) and "a plate of shrimp"
Eat, pray, love I guess, because you never know what you are going to get in life's box of chocolates:-)/:-(

And buckle up, cause even if life is a ride, it can be a rough and scary one.
