From Brontë Country to a Byron Bay Brewery Tour?

Wuthering Heights pub in Stanbury
English neighbours from Stanbury
meeting for the first time
in Byron Bay
When I wrote a post recently about the Stone & Wood Brewery selling out to Lion Nathan -
Stone & Wood Sellout to the Bigger World?
Fans have accused Stone & Wood of being
hypocritical following its sale to
beer giant Lion
It reminded me of the two neighbours who met each other for the first time ever on a brewery tour I was on at the Stone & Wood brewery in Byron Bay that day -

The Lickety History Podcast: The Bronte Sisters
When I had asked the couple who had been on a bike ride from Cairns to Byron Bay and were heading to Sydney where about in England they were from, they told me the town of Stanbury, which was in Bronte Country.
I asked them what Bronte Country was and they told me it was where the Bronte Sisters grew up and wrote their books.
I had heard of the sisters, but had never read their books, or even seen the movies made from the books.
But when the other English couple sitting at our table heard the name Stanbury their ears pricked up and asked the other couple if they had just said they were from Stanbury.
Turned out they lived on farms right behind one another in the town, but had never met each other until after a brewery tour on the other side of the world in Australia.
What are the odds I say?
The Brendan O'Connor Podcast: The Bronte Sisters
Uploaded on August 22, 2021?-)
I still haven't read or watched any Bronte Sister's books or movies, but I have listened to quite a few podcasts featuring stories of the Bronte Sisters, which I have found quite interesting.
Patti Smith: The Brontë Sisters
I like how
Patti Smith says how she wrote a song called
'Helen Burns' with Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers about the little girl befriended by Jane Eyre, as Flea's favourite book is
'Jane Eyre' written by Charlotte Brontëaccording to Patti.
Patti says her favourite BS book is Villette.
On a weird note, the only time I have ever seen Patti Smith play live was in 2017 at the Byron Bay Bluesfest, which I wrote about in this old post -

It's amazing what you find out on a brewery tour and I have to thank my English friends for educating me about the Bronte Sisters and their lives over a few drinks in Byron Bay that day.
Cheers.
