Frankenstein and The Big Chill?πŸ₯Ά

The Big Chill is a movie which turns 40 years old next year in 2023 the Year of the Rabbit.
Frankenstein (2004 miniseries)
The Big Chill stars William Hurt who passed away this year and who also starred in the 2004 Hallmark version of the Frankenstein tale, which I just watched on 7plus, as I'm reading Mary Shelley's 1818 novel right now, and apparently this movie/series is the closest adaption to the novel, not like Kenneth's 1994 version, or so I heard through the grapevine:-)
How to Read and Watch Frankenstein from a 2022 Perspective?πŸŽ₯πŸ“–πŸŽ¬
I couldn't help thinking how the monster's father (Victor Frankenstein) has the same initials (VF) as a famous magazine and novel (Vanity Fair):-)
Although they both came out after Mary's novel had hit the newsstands/bookstores -
From '1001 Books You Must Read
Before You Die
So hopefully I'll finish reading Frankenstein before I die;-)
I have the
DVD of 'The Big Chill' still, so I won't have to pay to hire it, or watch it on free streaming TV services that bombard you with advertising you can't skip over, like 7plus does.
So many books, movies and podcasts to get through before I die, I guess;-)
What's that saying, "if you want to make God laugh, tell God your plans"?-)
Now, where was I up to in Mary's book?
I might have to watch 'Mary Shelley' again, now?
I see it's on SBS On Demand ... for free ... with commercials though.
Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley and Herstory?πŸ“–
Ironically, the next book in my '1001 books You Have to Read Before You Die' book to read that I have on my bedside table still to finish reading is 'Moby Dick' and William Hurt stars in a 2011 Moby Dick TV miniseries as Captain Ahab:-)
This is one book I just have to finish reading before I die, too:-)

The Menu ... I'm Still Lovin' it?πŸ”

I saw the dark comedy movie 'The Menu' with my youngest son tonight and loved it.
We ate at Betty's Burgers before the movie:-)
Dickens and Christmas: The Founder of the Feast? πŸ¦ƒπŸ—πŸŽ„πŸ·πŸŸπŸ”πŸ»
And while it didn't snow tonight, it nearly hailed.
I even managed to snap a picture of a double rainbow over the Coomera shopping complex the cinemas are housed in:-)
I also found another connection to my last post about Christmas feasts and Dickens when I was watching the credits roll and saw that Will Ferrell was one of the three producers on 'The Menu'.
"Will Tracy dined at Cornelius SjΓΈmatrestaurant during a honeymoon and later suggested a story to Seth Reiss inspired by the experience."
Cornelius
SjΓΈmatrestaurant
There were only 12 guests invited and a sex worker named Margot replaced the partner of one of the guests to attended what was planned to be the last day of the restaurant ... not that most customers knew it was going to be the last?

The Simpsons Predicted That Twitter Would Go to Seed When Elon Arrived on the Scene?πŸ“ΊπŸ”πŸ“±πŸ“΅

Elon Musk says 'The Simpsons' predicted him buying Twitter back in 2015 ... but what were they really saying in that episode?-)
Screenshot from Apple TV's 2022 'Spirited':-)
Looks funny when you spell
CLINT with capitals?
And maybe the movie
'Spirited' predicted a spirited takeover of Twitter by another CLINT?-)
A Spirited 2022 Christmas... and Twitter?!πŸŽ„πŸŽ

Dickens and Christmas: The Founder of the Feast? πŸ¦ƒπŸ—πŸŽ„πŸ·πŸŸπŸ”πŸ»

Listening to and watching the stories about Charles Dickens and his life at this time of year makes me all sentimental for Christmas feasts of the past and hopefully of Christmas feasts still to come, not that the feasts I have ever attended have been anything that elaborate to write home about as far as Aussie or western world Christmas feasts go.
On the subject of feasts, I'm off to the cinema with my youngest son (who is in his late 20s) to grab a burger and a beer tonight before seeing 'The Menu' (I've read the spoilers before seeing it, but I don't think my son has:-), which my eldest son tells me is worth seeing.
I watched 'The Northman' on Amazon Prime last night, which has Anya Taylor-Joy as the common denominator between the two movies.
And hey, nearly half (or more?) of my DNA is Scandinavian;-)
We don't get snow at Christmastime here in Australia, but it's surprising how many families sit down for a winter feast in the middle of summer.
Old habits die hard, I guess?-)
But I usually just drink beer/stout and eat prawns and seafood on Christmas Day, while other family members have a hot Christmas dinner/lunch.

3rd Time Lucky for King Charles?♔♚♔

Listening to the audio chapters of Charles Dickens' book 'David Copperfield' I couldn't help noticing Charles wrote about King Charles the 1st in his veiled autobiographical novel, and in season 5 of the Netflix series 'The Crown'Mohamed Al-Fayed is advised by Sydney Johnson to read English literature, Charles Dickens' works being one of the authors mentioned by Sydney.

Dodi Fayed and Allied Stars?🌟🎬🌠
I thought it rather synchromystic that 'The Scarlett Letter' sits right next to 'David Copperfield' in my book '1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die', as 'The Scarlett Letter' was made into a movie by Dodi Fayed's film production company 'Allied Stars' in the 90s.
Life and Art?
And what should happen when season 5 of 'The Crown' was being filmed?
Charles becomes King Charles the Third:-)
These dAys it All comes down to the brAnding, right?-)
