The Small World Theory Proves Itself Once Again?

Mark Occhilupo at the BBCC Thursday night
I drove down to Byron Bay today for an event that was on at the Byron Bay Community Centre tonight (which will be last night by the time I get this post up) and I decided to do a tour of the Stone & Wood brewery and take home a carton of 'Cloud Catcher' beer with me.
The mountain printed on the six-pack is Mount Warning/Wollumbin, which I have written about before -
Does Synchromysticism Sound 'Mental' to You?
Mt. Warning/Wollumbin
It's the mountain used in the video for Coldplay's 'Adventure of a Lifetime', I soon found out after I e-mailed the director of the clip, and he told me it was stock footage from David Attenborough's TV show 'Life on Earth'.

But this WTF(?) synch I'm about to tell you is more to do with a conversation I had at the tasting table of the Stone & Wood brewery after the tour.
SYNCHRONICITY Magnet?
The English neighbours from Stanbury in Byron Bay
I was sitting across from an English couple who had been biking down the Queensland coast on their pushbikes and I was telling them to keep an eye out for Matt Damon and Chris Hemsworth while they were staying in Byron Bay.
Matt Damon cools down with an ice-cream and refreshing drink as the laid-back star cuts a casual figure in Byron Bay
The Royal Trip?
They told me that they were only staying in Byron for one day then biking down to Surry Hills to visit someone they know in Sydney.
I then asked them where in England they were from, and they told me Stanbury.
Entry to Main Street, Stanbury
I said I hadn't heard of the town before, and they said to me it was Bronte Country.
I asked what that meant and was told it was where the Bronte sisters were from.
Two blokes that had been on the tour with and sitting next to them on the bench piped up and said are you from Stanbury?
They said yes and told them what street and they found out that they were living next door, but they hadn't known each other back there as it is farmland village.
I asked them, so you are literally neighbours back in this village and you only met each other for the first time halfway round the world in a brewery in a small town?
They said yes, but the kicker was the neighbour's daughter (white top above) is living in Surry Hills in Sydney, which was the suburb in Sydney where the bike riders were heading.
Or at least I think that is all the points I heard them say to me at the brewery.
What are the odds of these bike riders stopping in Byron for one day and doing this exact tour (there were three tour times today) and meeting their next-door neighbours, who they hadn't met before?

They'll have a story to tell back in their hometown at the Wuthering Heights.
Maybe they should take some 'Cloud Catcher' beer home

  3. I forgot that you had a blog about Cornwall Mike.
I'll have to go over and take a look to see what I've missed since I was last there.
I guess armchair traveling is still the only option for many people the world over right now ... not that I've ever really traveled outside of Australia, except a football trip to New Zealand in the 70s.
And I'm sure your old blogs are still bringing comfort to many readers, even if you aren't adding new material to them.
Cheers Mike, and who knows, one day I might just get over to Cornwall for a real life look around myself.
